didn't any of you ever consult a psychiatrist? PLEASE tell us what THEY said.
Wow, funny i just had one..i just call them head rushes, ive always had them since i was little.Im currently 19 and this happens to me frequently, exactly how you explained it..everything moves fast, everybody talks fast, my heart starts pumping hard..when this happens to me i just try to relax as much as possible close my eyes and count my breaths, it goes away (well to me it does)
I remember having one bad one when i was little, it happened in a nightmare..in my dream the whole world was against me and by this i mean everybody..it was such a horrible feeling..when i woke up i felt the same as in my dream..i ran to my parents room and i felt like my parent were against me aswell, i cried and my mom hugged me, that hug felt soooooo good..i told her to hug me even harder and she did. I was sweating up a storm, the feeling just lasted like 5 minutes but i kid you not it was so intense, i slept with my parents that day..i was like 9 lol

I'm surprised that almost nobody who has written has ever taken a doctor's opinion or had a diagnostic test !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Someone must have treated the symptoms, with what? and with what outcome?

Wow, glad i'm not the only one. i've gotten since i was about 12 on and off. it normally happens soon after i've woken up or it follows a headrush. i've had it for so long i just ignore, but it just happened now and i always feel so panicy when it happens, so i thought i'd look online. i never thought it could be an indicator of something serious :/
am 21 one and i just had one... to be honest i am kind of relieved now that i know that there are more people that have it. I have only told my mum about this a while ago. Its wierd really weird, it connects with dreams i thinks, i use to dream about the sun and the moon moving fast and staff cant really rememba.... please guys i will leave my email and if any of you get an exact name for it please do let me know with great respect Albert Lusha

I have always wondered what these episodes were. I would get them in my teens, and they would come and go. On average, lasting 1 - 3 minutes. I would feel it slowly coming on, and then just try and ride it out. Quite an unpleasant feeling which also makes it hard to concentrate. The major difference I realized was external voices. Especially if I was listening to music, it would sound as though the singer was purposely speeding up their speech and intensity.
I noted and graphed my episodes, the frequency, duration and compared it to things going on in my life. I worked out that they would only come around when my stress levels increased. If I had an exam to study for, I would often get them. I also found that if my stress levels stayed high, then the frequency of the episodes would slowly decrease. It was only when I became substantially more stressed that I would experience the episodes.

Would love a psychological or medical explanation.

Ha, crazy. I had the very same thing when I was younger and it hasn't happened in years. But it is happening right now, for the first time in ages, so I thought I should try and research it, and here you all are with the same experiences. It's kinda nice to know other people have felt it too.
I would be interested to find out what it is though.

ive had this feeling like 4 times now and has really freaked me out! i also have the distance thing, where the tv looks farther away than it actually is. i started taking topamaz for migraines about 4 months ago and was thinking that maybe that was the cause. i guess i should tell my nuerologist about it. i havent known what to think about all of it...other than it has scared me.
I know that this question post thingy is really old, and it was asked in 2008, it's 2011 now but I need help please from someone.
I'm 15 years old, and this has been happening to me since I was about 9. It's hard for me to explain what it feels like. I kinda like it, but I hate it. It comes for only like 5 minutes but then it goes, but it comes at the most unconveniet times, The feeling is like everything is happening really fast, but everything is still normal pace. Everything sounds louder, and noises sound faster, I pick up on noises more. The noises feel like to me that everything is happening in a rythem, or a beat. It's hard to explain, but thats kinda it. I hope you get it, and can someone please help me? Is there something wrong with me? Sometimes i get it mroe than once a day, sometimes its just once a day, but sometimes not at all, i think once i went a whole like 6 months without feeling this sensation. I really hate the feeling, but I like at the same time.
I told my mum once, it made her nevouse, she told me that i was just musicaly intune??? I mean wtf, sometimes i hate my mum. But I love her. But she doenst really care about things like this.
All so, Sometimes I yell things out, I dont mean to, words just come out of my mouth I yell them out, or say them loudly. I cant help it. Once I yelled out the name "NICOLA!" and i have no idea where that came from, it just came out of my mouth, randomly. Other things that come out of my mouth, once i yell out "Spagehttie every-ready". Once I yelled out "JUMP!" Once I said "Twinkleing ttea" And lots more things i have yelled out without meaning to, it happens all the time. I cant help it, the words just come out. My mum has experenced me yell things out ramdomly, she just says that i have to controll myself better, but I cant, idk how. I cant help it. The words just come out.
One more problem, I wash my hands to much. I cant help it, I just have to. I wash them maybe 20 times a day, but i wash them for like 20 minutes, i wash them so much they bleed. But I cant help it. I have to. I dont know why, i just have to.
My mums making me see a shrink this week. cause she told me she cant deal with me anymore. and she wants me to get fixed.
Anyways, please if theres anynoe out there, help me????

and the hand washing thing is probably just OCD http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001926/

About a month ago this started again so i researched what it was and found this thread. Since this has happened to me frequently over the past month i thought i would post.
When i was a kid i used to enjoy these episodes happening and would try to prolong them pretending they where my superpower. a few months a go i saw my younger cousin pretending he had super powers and it reminded me when i was kid and i sort of missed them and a more simpler time.
I had this same thing happen to me since i was at least 7 years old. They would usual occur at least twice a month, until I hit around 13, where the frequency would lessen to once every couple of months. When i was around 18 they rarely happened, I would say that I have had a few in the last 8 years and haven't had one of these happen in a few years. Until recently when they have started to occurred frequently again. It feels like your mind is processing things much faster and things such as speech, actions and awareness are speeding up in your mind, though you are fully aware that it is just in your head. Also occasionally accompanied with the "rush" to the head it would feel like what I was concentrating on e.g T.V. or book would seem like it was further away than what it was and the objects in my peripheral vision seemed in there normal place.
As i would usually take most medical opinions i read on the internet forums with a pinch of salt, since most people who write about them don't really have much background in medicine to give a proper opinion. However just discussing it to help relieve the worry like seems to be happening in this thread i feel can't be bad thing & people throwing there 2 cents in at least makes some people feel like they are not alone and relieve some of the worry. From what i have researched of it i would say it is Alice in Wonderland (AiW) syndrome with some people feeling milder symptoms than others (since i have no medical knowledge either i feel a little bit like a hypocrite). Reason i am throwing my 2 cents in is mainly because of the worried parents out there. As if i had told my mum i suffered from this i know she would have been worried sick from this. If you are seriously worried i would suggest seeing your GP.
For me personally i don't feel that it is to do with anxiety attacks as i have never felt anxious before one of these happen although i am laid pack person and don't seem to get anxious or stressed about anything. Since i do not have low blood sugar this can't be the trigger for me. Since these used to happen with more frequency when i was a kid (& most people who have commented) it can't be drug related. They usually occur for me late at night though a couple of hours before i usually go to bed. It seems to happen when there is a continuous droning sound and it is dark but what i am concentrating is giving of light e.g. monitor, T.V. or book light. Since with most medical things to do with the brain different people have different triggers. Since the frequency of this has increased recently i have found that breathing slower heavy breathes and to either sit in the dark or turn the lights on helps it pass quicker.

wow i thought i was the only one!
i just had the fast feeling then and have only just thought to google it. i only get it every few months or so but used to get it a lot as a child.
its funny a user earlier said they would get the feeling when they had a nightmare?
i used to have a reoccurring dream as a child and i would get the fast feeling whilst asleep. When i get it now i still remember my dream from when i was maybe 8 or 10.
I hate the feeling even though it only lasts 5 minutes or so. I can sometime stop it and slow everything down by just staying still and thinking of somehting else or concentrating on the actual speed of things.
This is so weird. I know everyone on here all feels the same way, but I thought I was going crazy, and was too ashamed/confused to tell anyone about it. Always felt like I was the only one. I am 21 and it has been happening to me for yeeeaaars about three to four times a year. I just assumed it was like a crazy burst of adrenalen or like, I didnt express my anger enough so sometimes it would happen maybe? I'm just coming out of one of these trances right now. Its hard for me to tell how long it lasted becausea everything seems so fast but normal... but ied say around 10 mins.
Its so strange, because everything I hear is always so aggresive. Like, anykind of music instantly sounds so angry, even if I watching a cartoon like spongebob it sounds like spongebob is super aggresive or something.
Its nice to know that I'm not alone in this. May go see a neurologist or someone to figure out what it is, because its seemed to be happening to alot of other people.
