I googled Sore Ureathra Caruncle and found this, it’s a miricle only wish I had found it 6 years ago. i suffer with all the afore mentioned agonies to know i’m not alone is such a comfort. in short i don’t think there is a positive cure, i have been prescribed Oestrogen cream to apply topically, which is very difficult, does it help, I don’t think so. I am having a particularly bad patch at the moment, throbbing, burning and so sore. My last visit to a Urologist was dreadful, no help, sympathy, advice etc, i was told “I’ve seen worse than that!” That isn’t the point to me this is just awful, it hurts to walk, so no walking for pleasure, underwear, clothes have to be chosen carefully, In short it is ruing my life and obviously lots of others,

So reassuring to read I am not alone with this damn thing. I’ve tried estrogen creams vagifem and topical Premarin. I’ve completed pelvic physio. I modify the clothing I wear. I take frequent bathes. Nothing works. It may feel mildly better for a few days and then the burning, pain with urination occurs. Feel like estrogen creams actually make burning worse and increase discharge. This thing is making life miserable. Hoping a referral to a urologist will give me some positive solution. At wits end.

Keegal exercises. Keep area lubricated. Avoid heavy lifting jumping and be gentle when having bowel movements. Any exertion will push it out more. Sitz baths may help. Surgery as LAST RESORT. Do research....get it checked if visual changes.

Wear looser underwear and pants especially when sleeping. It seems when it rubs on clothing it id easily irritated which causes burning and swelling. Perhaps a soft panty liner may help. I am trying everything i can so it doesnt get worse. 65 yo female.female

I am a 71 year old great grandmother who has had this problem for many years. In 2015 I was admitted to the hospital with pyleonephritis with sepsis. So bad that when I told the ER doctor that I just wanted something to stop the pain and then go home. He said “Lady if you leave and go home, you are going to die.! Not being able to void completely resulted in urine backing up in my system ( a result of the carbuncle covering the opening). Yes pain beyond belief. Urologist kept me in till I cleared up no more sepsis. He said he wanted to put me on estrogen Cremer since I had a total hysterectomy at the age of 35..from fibroid tumors everywhere, but he said FIRST I want you to get a mammogram! well I did and good thing. Had breast cancer. The next month I had surgery for that (4 years survivor). But I still get the burning bleeding swollen feeling. I hadnt had any intimate relations for a couple years the thought of the pain terrified me. And now I just lost my husband of 53 years, 2 months ago. Even with all the pain from caruncles sepsis breast cancer, I’d take all of these back to have him here with me. Thanks for listening

Hi
I am 66 years old and have had this urethral caruncle for several years now. I have tried all kinds of things including bio-identical estrogen and sitz baths. Still have burning that comes and goes. I am now trying aloe vera gel directly from the plant. I don't know if it will work or not but it sure soothes and gives relief from the burning. I had tried the aloe vera gel in the plastic tube but it didn't help. Just sharing this.

I have recently been diagnosed with a Urethral Caruncle. I am 57 and postmenopausal. This thing is driving me crazy. I was given vaginal estrogen cream which helped shrink it but then I became allergic to the cream and now use the tablets. I still have a ton of burning with this thing. I have been on the vaginal estrogen since october and its now mid January. Am I giving this enough time? I have also tried cortisone cream and sitz baths. Nothing works.

I have a caruncle in my urethra - anyone else experiences this painful condition? I am a 70 yr old post-menopausal female.

You need your gynecologist to prescribe some estrogen cream for you. The caruncle is caused by vaginal atrophy. The estrogen will "fluff out" your vagina thus preventing the caruncle from becoming irritated. It will also prevent the repeated urinary tract infections.

I hope I have the same results after my surgery scheduled in a few days.
