On 6-3-15 I had bilateral salpingectomy, hysteroscopy, D&C and thermasure ablation. 4 1/2 weeks prior to my surgery my Dr put me on 40mg of megase to thin my uterine lining. At the 4 week mark I had an ultrasound to be sure I had no fibroids or anything else that may affect the procedures. With my ultrasound all clear I was scheduled for surgery 6 days later. When I awoke in recovery I was in SEVERE pain. Two IV doses of Fentanyl didn't touch me! They had given me the max dose of pain meds so I was sent home, worst 25 mile trip ever! The pain was undescribable. As soon as I was dropped at home, hubby rushed right back out to fill my prescriptions for Toradol, Zofran and Dilaudid. I was miserable! While waiting for hubby to return with my much needed/wanted drugs, a friend filled a squarish gallon container with hot water to help soothe the crappy crampy feeling. Finally hubby was home and dosed me up with all my meds, which knocked me out proper- clutching my hot water bottle to my poor tummy. When I finally woke up about 4 hours later I was in much less pain. I asked hubby to be sure I stayed on schedule with my meds and to keep my hot water bottle filled regularly. By day 2 the pain was tolerable but the staples I had were not!
I am now 2 weeks post op. That hot waterbottle was my best friend! It helped so much in addition to the pain meds! I was crampy and really tired for the first week. Having my staples removed eased my suffering (those darn things are irritating! Pulling and itching) I still get cramping at random times and half a pain pill takes care of that. I do have the watery discharge, gushes at times, but handled well with only a pantyliner. I only spotted two pinkish spots on the day of the procedures.
All in all, I am pleased with my outcome for now. It is still a wait and see for periods or lack of. I'm getting tired of wearing these pads as they tend to irritate my tender areas! Hoping my leakage will stop soon!
I would reccomend this procedure to anyone who suffers through horrible periods. Yeah, it was a really crappy first few days, but you get over it. Just like swearing no more children after your first, then having another, lol. You get over the pain in due time. My top two pieces of advice: 1. Take pain meds on a regular schedule to keep pain in check. 2. Use the hot water BOTTLE. The weight of the water adds a nice pressure that a heating pad can not and was more effective.
Good luck Ladies! I will try to update on the watery discharge and period mystery when I find out!
