I also have chronic anterior Uveitis for 10 yrs. I have had injections, steroid drops, you name it! I have been diagnosed positive with HLA-B27. Ive found several natural remedies that help. Obviously if you have auto immune issues, maintain vitamins, stay away from caffeine. Try Curcumin 375mg 3 times per day for 12 weeks. It a compound found in Tumeric. Try Echinachea to boost immune system and reduce inflamation. I heard Bilberry is good too..but haven't tried it. this condition is horrible! Good luck!
for my mum
I have also been diagnosed with uveitis. It started on November 11th, 2013 and involved the 3 types of swelling. I had all the tests done and found out that it was genetic. I have been trying to completely stop the steroid drops for the past 3 weeks but after 4 days my eye is red and I have to use the drops again. After having read what a guest on this blog wrote...and I quote "After much reading, I found that caffeine and sugar make the symptoms worse. I have cut out both and my uveitis is gone. It is associated with auto-immune diseases, so take your vitamins, especially ones that help get rid of free radicals (vitamine E & C). Watch your diet..."
I've decided to follow this persons recommendations even though it will be extremely challenging in the beginning since I love my coffee and black tea along with sweets and chocolate...but my health is worth much more than these foods. The part about "Watch your diet..." is also important. I am reading Wheat Belly by William Davis MD, and have found out that wheat, due to its many genetic changes, is often the cause of auto-immune disorders, so I will also exclude wheat from my diet. Yes, I know that these changes are a major shift in my lifestyle, but living a full productive healthy life is worth it: Being plagued with the life-detoriating effects of uveitis is not worth the temporary satisfaction and eye explosive triggering effects of sugar, caffeine and wheat! I will be starting this new eating lifestyle on March 2nd, 2014. After one month I will post if there has been any positive change or no change at all.
I will be following your suggestions; thank you for sharing your own experience^^*
Hi; It's been a year so hopefully you've resolved your uveitis issues. If not, I believe this is the information you were looking for..."Stop caffeine and sugar; take vitamin E & C supplements to get rid of free radicals; watch your diet..." I would also add to stop eating wheat. After having read 'Wheat Belly' by William Davis MD, that's what I intend to do.
I've had uveitis since 11/11/13 and I intend to be cured and not carry the weight of this terrible disease on my shoulders! Good luck!!!
I agree with you 100% and will be making the same changes in my diet^^* Thank you for posting and sharing your awesome results!!!
I haven't been diagnosed with Celiacs, but after having read Wheat Belly by William Davis, I will be following a wheat free diet along with caffeine-free and sugar-free. Thank you for posting your positive change once you went on a gluten-free diet :)!
I have had uveitis since November 11th, 2013. The information I have found from previous postings from people who have been completely cured is that you need to remove sugar and caffeine from your diet (caffeine is in chocolate along with sugar). Taking vitamin E & C supplements are helpful in getting rid of free-radicals. Going on a gluten-free diet also helps to be 100% uveitis free. I hope this helps. You are young, and it's worth making these changes to lead a healthy productive uveitis-free life^^* By the way, I will be making all those changes too...Even though I'm much older than you, I want to enjoy every minute of the rest of my life^^*!!!
you can try Anulom vilom pranayam everyday . with vit A E C everyday. And meditation technique.
Wow. That is a very scary sequence of events. I am so pleased you shared it. Good luck to your son.
I am also suffering from uveitis for about eight months. I love my coffee but will now cut it out. I am not big on sweets but sugar comes in many hidden forms. I am on drops and can't stop. Have had every test under the sun! No cause yet but going to internist soon. I have intestine problems. I hope that's the cause. Finally. I also take anti inflammatory pills too. Eyes get worse in casinos or office lights of course. Limited time on computers. My frustration is growing. Not sure what being on constant eye drops is doing. Slight discharge from eyes last night for the first time. Probably not a good sign. Time to quit relying on the drops for relief and make other changes! Appreciate all comments.

Hi there! I have been reading through all the posts. Our oldest daughter was first diagnosed with Uveitis when she was 8. She is now 14. We have had many ups and downs with it.
First of all... anyone who is on the steroid drops, please seek other advice and help! I have done a lot of research and reading and everything says that with the steroid drops, it is only a matter of time before developing cataracts and or glaucoma. That cannot be the only thing you do.
We have also been using the immune suppressants. She started with Methotrexate, but for her, it helped in the beginning, then her body got used to it and didn't work any more. Since then, she is now on CellCept. I understand how awful these drugs are, but with all the reading and research I have done, along with talking with many doctors from around the world and the ones we deal with here, this is the only sure thing right now.
The best place to start is with Dr. Foster out of Boston, Massachusetts. He has a hospital there speicifically for Uveitis and Iritis.
We have tried diet, including The pH Miracle by Dr. Robert Young, but found it to be so strict it was next to impossible for a 12yo (and even myself) to stick on for so long. We have also seen a naturopath and done live blood analysis and totally changed up our eating. Eating alkaline foods to keep your body alkaline is imperitive! Sleep is very important for this is when your body heals and can heal itself. Stress can be a killer to your body.
I am continually researching and reading and getting more information and trying new avenues. A friend has recently told me about Moringa and how it has helped her, however, she does not deal with Uveitis. She is looking into getting me more information.
This is a very serious disease. Please, keep looking for more information and let's keep sharing!
