I've noticed a vaginal discharge of a tissue-like substance that is clear with dots of blood in it, it looks like a piece of slimmy skin. This has only happened twice, the first time was during intercourse, I was expecting my period soon and i figured that it was some kind of urtus lining or something. and the second time happened a day after intercourse when i just began my period. So is this stuff normal or should I be worried?
Hi, I am an 18 year old who has never been sexually active and was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. I underwent treatment (glucophage) prescribed by an endocrinologist, but after a few months of fighting the nausea and dizziness from the Glucophage, I stopped taking it. At the same time, I quit seeing that endocrinologist because she seemed so sure of her diagnosis that she never ran any tests on me. Lately I have noticed a new problem that which I believe it is not related with PCOS. Like every week or so I have a tissue-like discharge when I urinate. It is a brownish color. It is much like the tissue that discharges with normal menstruation. However, it is clear and little brown, which I suppose it is blood. I am very worried. I searched on the net and only thing I found is that is possibly due to a high level of progesterone and a low level of androstenedione in the cervix hormone receptors. I will ask for professional help I thin you should do it too. I think that our problems are related, but again you had sex, so maybe it isn’t.

We both have fibroids, and we get stomach distension and cramps similar to birthing contractions. There's bits of fleshy material, and thin, red veins that look like capillaries. Sometimes it comes with a whitish discharge, or a drop of blood.
One of my fibroids is located near my cervix, so I have problems and discomfort after sex.
My fibroids are so bad (interfering with my bladder and intestines) that I will be having a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy next month... but I'm older, so it's no big deal. Fibroids get bigger from higher estrogen levels (my gynecologist says).
Of course, I can't say that's what it is for sure in your case. You'll need a gynecologist to take a look and see what you've got hanging out in your uterus.
Not very helpful but at least I'm not the only one!
seeing that there doesnt seem to be many (if any) reply's to your posts; i thought i might add a little insight.
im no medical professional or watever, but what i have gathered from the variety of posts is this:
- if you have discharge thats white and 'snot-like', your either ovulating, turned on, or about to get your period.
- if your discharge smells funky and unfamiliar to you then you might have some sort of infection... which is also associated with itching selling or dry flakey skin around the vaginal area.
- if your have white flakey discharge... like parmasen cheese, with a bad odour and itching/irritation... it could be thrush. (good old tv)
- white, clear, discharge is normal before period.
- brownish discharge can also be normal because its just mixed with a lil gunk/period etc that the body is flushing out.
- clots are ok during menstruation
- if you have A CLUMP OF SKIN THATS NOT SNOTTY OR STRETCHY BUT TOTALLY FREAKS YOU OUT: heaps of ppl have written about similar symptoms; some freak out and think its a fetus, others call it a "deflated" bag; regardless of what you may think it is... if it look like skin and has blood or viens on it, (and you getting or just got your period), then it is just a wall of skin that your body has built before your period. i think it takes 23 days for the wall to grow, but if you take longer to get your period, or skip your period, the wall will become thicker and thicker. so thats why it looks so freaky and unfamiliar when it comes out. you might not notice it normally, but when it gets that thick, its a bit hard to miss. sometimes its accompanied by period pain.
DONT FREAK OUT. ASK A FRIEND OR FAMILY MEMBER FOR ADVICE AND HAVE A READ ON THE NET. IF YOU ARE CONCERNED, GARD YOURSELF WITH AS MUCH INFORMATION AS POSSIBLE, WRITE DOWN INFORMATION ON: YOUR SYMPTOMS, LAST PERIOD AND UPCOMING PERIOD, COLOUR AND TEXTURE AND SMELL OF DISCHARGE, AND FOODS/ MEDICATION CONSUMED IN THE LAST 24 HOURS ETC... THEN GO TO THE DOCTOR WITH YOUR OWN NOTES AND GET A PROFESSIONAL OPINION. TELL THE DOCTOR THAT YOU WANT TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT IS AND TO DESCRIBE THE SYMPTOMS OF WHATEVER HIS PROGNOSIS MIGHT BE. IF HES WRONG YOU WILL NO BECAUSE THE SYMPTOMS WILL NOT COINCIDE WITH YOURS.
MOST DOCTORS WILL JUST FOBB YOU OFF WITH SOME PAIN KILLERS OR GENERAL MENSTRURAL INFORMATION; DONT LET THEM INSULT YOUR INTELLIGENCE. TELL THE DOCTOR THAT YOU DONT WANT TO HAVE TO COME BACK FOR THE SAME REASON AND NOT TO WASTE TIME WITH SUCH JIBER JABER AND TO START GIVING YOU A PROPER EDUCATED RESPONSE. THATS WHAT THEY ARE THERE FOR, THATS WHAT THEIR JOB ENTAILS, SO DONT LET THEM WASTE YOUR TIME.
