I'm not sure if anyone still reads this, but I did so I figured I'd post anyways. I too suffer from hangovers from hell. Extreme nausea and vomiting, feeling anxious and on edge, headaches, congestion, basically like death. Even after TWO MILD DRINKS, like today. I had allergy testing done and I've found I have sensitivities to wheat and barley, but even avoiding those it still happens! Eating and drinking water before bed helps, but not enough. I have some issues with my adrenals from being stressed out so I think that might play a part in it. My hangovers have always been awful though, but have just went down hill over the years. Now I end up dumping my drinks when no one is looking so I don't feel lame and have to explain to people about what happens to me. Pizza helps the next day also. I'll be on my death bed, throwing my guts up, and a slice of delivery pizza does absolute miracles. I don't understand it at all but it helps. I've just come to accept my body can't handle alcohol. It sucks so unbelievably bad.

I am exactly the same I am 22 and have been getting these hangovers for about 2 years now I used to be able to go out 3 days in a row on the drink and feel as good as new. Now I have one night out and am dying for 2 days! The day after I drink I can't keep and fluid down I wouldn't even attempt food and I vomit bile and the lining of my stomache up for about 10-12 hours every 10-15 minutes depending on if I have fallen asleep or not I can't move from my bed no one I know gets a hangover like this and everyone thinks I exaggerate! It's having a bit of a knock on effect because I can't go out and socialise with my freinds I can't go out on a satarday night if I have work on the Monday morning because I'm still sick! I can't go for weekends away or to festivals anymore and I can't have a drink on holiday! Was just wondering if u found a solution or a reason as to why u got these hangovers?

Hi Madison, I was just reading some blogs about this because I've been having the same issues and wondered if you'd ever found anything to make you feel better! Would love to hear from you. Thanks.

Hi, I get exactly the same thing when I drink - the exact same side effect! Did you ever find out what the cause was?

This thread is a god-send. For a few years now I've been battling this miserable battle like everyone here. I'd drink a normal amount, but then the next day I would vomit every 20 minutes until 4pm or something. Headache was bad, but like other people have said, it's nothing in comparison to the constant debilitating nausea. Just a punishment that does not fit the crime.

It's definitely ruined plans for me the next day. And my gf thought i was just being a wimp, so that was no fun. Anyway, I've been working on it, because I do like drinking socially.

I've found that it's not as bad if I actively try to keep my stomach acid down. Folks have recommended (and what's been working for me to some degree) is taking pepto between dinner & drinking, and then when i get home and am headed to bed taking another dose of pepto. Things I have substituted for pepto:
tums
a glass of warm water with a spoonful of baking soda stirred in
alka seltzer

From my understanding, all of these things help to lower the acidity of your stomach? Make it more basic? Something like that. I didn't pay enough attention in school.

Anyway, I still get hangovers after this, but they aren't as extreme, and I haven't been puking, which is really a win at the end of the day. As much fun as it is spending the day on the bathroom floor cuddling the cool porcelain of the toilet bowl.

The other thing that I've found actually helps is sleeping. Not watching tv, not quietly reading, but actually being asleep. I always seem to kind of 'turn a corner' on the day and at some point stop being as nauseous so i can actually get up and 'start' my day (at 4-6pm). And i always seem to turn this corner after I wake up. So there's something about sleeping that helps, someone said on this thread that when you breath slowly really shallowly and slowly, it somehow combats your stomach acid too? Anyway, this is my essay about my experiences with this, and my conclusion is that the prime suspect is stomach acid. I'll report back if I find anything else. Thanks everyone for sharing!

I do not wish this hell on my worst enemies.

Best,
Eric J

Hi all,
I've had all the same things from 18-42 years of age..
After much research I went gluten free, Ive not had a hangover since but only drink wine and cider.
Im 2 months in and to be honest been drinking more (I need to cut down) because this does not happen anymore..
This is just my story and surely wouldn't work for everyone.
Cheers.

Very interesting because what I found for me, at least on the 2 occasions that I have had Xanax available to me when I experience one of these episodes is taking 2 Xanax, it knocked me out and when I woke up I was perfectly fine. I felt a little foggy but my migraine was gone and so was the vomiting.

Well, I guess the good news is that I am not alone, and that there are others out there who know that I am not exaggerating when I say I feel like actual death after drinking even a few beers. Does the feeling seem to come on later in the day for anyone else, as in I wake feeling ok, but a few hours later the nausea and hell starts.

Also, there are 10 pages of people suffering though the same thing, yet not one answer as to what causes it?

I had the same abnormal hangover issue and a friend suggested it was caused by dehydration. So, I tripled my daily water intake and the problem went away.

Natural medicine won't help. You just can't drink.

Hello,

I have just cried with happiness that I have found this. I am 21 years and I literally said today why am I the only one that has this problem. It's such a relief that it's not just me. I have experienced this once before and I thought I was just ill like you said and it is very random does happen all the time. I went out on Friday and I strictly stuck to one drink (vodka) and I thought I would be fine, well yesterday I woke up and I didn't feel to bad so I thought great then within 10 minutes of trying to drink some and water I was throwing up. I was sick at least 9 times every 20 minutes and it all frothy liquid bile. Seemed to be no matter how hard I tried to keep that water down it was coming straight back up. I thought it may have been an allergic reaction because it was painful and so uncomfortable and the sickness was the worst thing I ever experienced and of course were I had no food in me it was even worse. Was others like this or just me ? It's like the alcohol gives me a sickness bug like food poisoning. I of course don't know what to do because I am 21 and have been able to drink whatever I like when I like and not even have a hangover and no I am terrified to even have one beer. So can anyone recommend advice ?

I've had some success consistently with limited drinking by following the following sequence. Dinner, one dose of Pepto bismal, drink a reasonable amount and hydrate well, and take another dose of Pepto before I you go to sleep. I'm155lbs male and I can have a good buzz on as many as 5 drinks without paying the biley price. I think I has something to do with combating extra stomach acid. Not sure though.

I suffer the same and cannot get to the bottom of it.
I find I suffer less when on holiday though.

It really is absurd. One time I went out and had a becks blue - alcohol free. The next day i had a hangover - not one of my usual ones like this thread describes, but a hangover nonetheless from a 0.5% beer.
