if she also gets it sometimes without drinking, it's probably cyclic vomiting syndrome!

Did you ever find anything out? I’m a 19 y/o female with the same issue

While your reaction to alcohol consumption sounds quite severe, turning to alternative medicine won't make things any better.

If your GP can't provide you with any concrete solutions, try another one. Medical personnel are humans like everyone else - no single one has an absolute overview over all of medical science, but they each know some part of it. If one doesn't know what is bothering you, another one might. What is certain is that whatever answer a GP struggles to find won't be solved by turning to superstition.

You might have better luck consulting a gastrointestinal professional. It should be no more expensive than your average naturopath, and will be based on facts and evidence rather than fiction and superstition.

All the best.

Hi friends! I’m a 23 yr old female struggling with the same thing and I am so happy to hear that there are other people out there struggling like me.

I do have one small piece of advice that I have noticed helps me SOMETIMES and when I remember to do these things (if I’m not too drunk to remember lol) then I notice I feel a lot better.

They are going to sound very simple and “common sense” but most people truly don’t do these things....try and force yourself to eat something the night of drinking. I notice when I don’t eat I am hungover so much more the next day. Along with that try and CHUG some water. 1-2 glasses if you can. As far as what to eat I have eaten many different things so I’m not sure if that truly matters but one article I read said to eat something with cheese or even yogurt! Hopefully this helps someone out there!

If i drink 12 cans of good 5.5% quality beer, i feel good and i can work out or run next morning. If i drink same amount of bad quality beer i have so bad hangover that i wan't to kill myself next day. Also the effect from alcohol is absolutely different.

I know this thread is old but I found it while searching for answers for my own horrible hangovers. Everything you guys have experienced is exactly how it is for me. Sometimes I’ll have one beer, sometimes I can have a bottle of wine, but if I do get a hangover, I’m throwing up stomach acid all day and can’t hold down water for the entire next day. I went to the hospital the first time it happened but they just gave me fluids and sent me on my way. The fluids did make a dramatic difference and very quickly so maybe some weird severe dehydration is going on? I drink a lot of water and I always try to drink one glass for every beverage but sometimes it doesn’t matter. No one else I know has this happen to them and I thought people were thinking I was being dramatic but it’s worse than a bad flu and I can’t do anything at all except wait for the next wave of nausea and dry heaving. I’m glad I’m not alone in this!

I have the EXACT same feelings after drinking. Did you find anything out?

Any updates on this please because you have described how I feel the day after drinking (not always heavily). Usually I feel worse throughout the day and can be shaking for days afterwards and my thought process feels slow and strange - I never used to get this after drinking and I’m only 18! I haven’t tried any of the recommendations like vitamins yet but im interested to see what it’s like for you now?

Hello, has anyone else figured out a cause to this? Are we just getting old(er)?

Dang. I’ve been having the same exact issues the last 3-ish years (all but the itchy eyes). No hormonal or chemical birth control for me. I did have a hypothyroid (slow metabolism) issue early on, but that’s since been resolved and the abnormal/undeserved hangovers have continued.
I’ll stop drinking completely most of the time, and try again a little maybe once a year. For me at least, it seems these “hangovers” happen after a couple/few days of enjoying a glass or two of wine or beer per night for literally 2-3 evenings, and then wham! Embarrassing, debilitating, draconian punishment.
Really wish we had an explanation.
A friend of mine yesterday said she experiences the SAME thing too! She pointed out that our bodies change totally every 7 years, so there’s hope of outgrowing this garbaaage.
Thanks for making this post. It’s the only thing that actually addresses what we’re experiencing and it’s such a shame there are a lot of us but nice to know we’re not alone. Love the group idea lol
