I am experiencing very similar symptoms. I will go out drinking and it could be one drink or ten and the next day I am immobile the entire day. My body feels so tingly in the worst way and whenever I stand up I feel so lightheaded that I have to get into fetal position. I am 20 years old and have been drinking (rather heavily) since I was 15. These symptoms seemed to slowly progress when I began birth control about a year ago but yesterday was the worst experience I have ever had. I could not move until 1 pm and could not get out of bed until 5 pm. It is embarrassing and everyone I know is assuming that I am just drinking too much. Did anything change for you when you went off of birth control? Please let me know I am desperate!

The older I get, the nastier the hangovers get, and the longer they go on. For the last two days I have been in bed with the mother of all hangovers. I thought I was having a heart attack yesterday as I had pressure on my chest all day. And today I just feel like I want to throw up and I have no energy. I am a 13 stone man, I dread to think what hangovers are like for women, as it is a known fact the drink has a worse effect on them as they usually weigh lighter, and don't have as much of the "thing" in their body that breaks down alcohol, sorry I forget the name, so it takes longer to sober up. I've had times were it can take 5 days before I feel normal again after a drink. Was fine in my 20s, this all started in my 30s and is getting worse.

I've also started to get these blackouts, where I am losing maybe 3-4 hours at the end of each night, can't remember what bar I was in, who I was talking to. Or getting home, all I remember is going to bed . I am losing large chucks of time and it's getting very scary, I am worried that I am going to kill myself during one of these blackouts. It's not passing out like a typical drunk, it's being able to walk around and speak to people, but have no memory of it at all, and it's happening a lot more frequently, so I have to quit drinking, as I can't have a few, once I start, that's it for the day. My advice, of having 10 years of really bad hangovers, is stop drinking, it doesn't get better, and the bad hangovers didn't stop me from drinking, in fact I am drinking more than when the problem started. It could be the first signs of a alcohol problem, addiction maybe. I don't know. But once alcohol starts to have a dramatic effect on your mental and physical well being, it's time to stop before you do serious damage. A drink problem creeps up on a person over time, it doesn't happen over night, and one day in a few years or sooner, you've got a fight on your hands to stop yourself from self destructing.

Drink ruins lives, that is a fact, people need to stop treating it as a friend of or a good time, I said I would never drink as it caused problems in my family when I was young. A lot of misery, yet here I am fighting to escape a drink problem, it can get anyone, I wish you all luck in giving up drinking , you may not want to, but one day you will if it keeps causing you problems.

I think what people here are describing is alcohol withdrawal. Once you start getting anxiety or prolonged hangover like symptoms that last up to a week, you are dealing with withdrawal that is only going to get worse if you keep drinking. I used to be able to drink and go to work with a fuzzy head the next day, and all was well after that. But then it progressed to feeling breathless, anxious and unable to sleep and feeling spaced out a lot of the time.

People who binge drink are hitting their system hard with alcohol, then the body rebounds from that in the days you are not drinking, and if you keep doing this what you are doing is very damaging as it makes future withdrawals a lot worse that can eventually lead to the DT's. It's called kindling. People need to be aware of the damage the are doing when they drink too much. It can have life threatening consequences down the road and people need to educate themselves about alcohol dependency and withdrawal symptoms as they are wide and varied, and can be moderate to extreme depending on the amount you drink, and the amount of time you have been drinking.

I gave up drinking and all the mental and physical problems cleared up after a short time. People who continue to brush off the bad episodes that follow a night out on the booze are playing russian roulette with their health and their sanity.

This isn't spam to sell stuff, If by chance you see this again please look at something called Po Chai.
It's a chinese remedy and can be bought very cheaply from ebay.

I'm 27, female and have had this on a few occasions when my hangover involves the horrid bile vomit every 15 or 20 minutes.
I swallow one of these tubes of herbs and probably vomit twice afterwards and then it stops.
It's seriously been a life saver compared to vomiting the WHOLE freaking day.

I have 39 yo female here in same boat: up to 24 hrs of vomiting a couple of times an hour with severe headache, dizziness and nausea and utter inability to function the next day after drinking as little as three beers the night before.  I did start drinking early, at 13, and for the first two years, I had no hangovers whatsoever and woke up feeling great, then they hit me out of nowhere starting when I was 15.  I drank about once or twice a week in my teens and twenties, and then started drinking much less frequently in my thirties, once a month at most.  I never get sick the night I'm drinking and go to bed feeling fine, it's always the next day that it starts. There is no particular type of alcohol that makes it any better (I've tried every kind of expensive super-distilled vodka) and no amount of water intake that helps (I've drank a glass of water with every drink and I've also tried drinking gatorade and pedialyte the next day, to no effect).  I do think that some of my worst hangovers have been from wine, though, (sulphites probably) so I never touch it anymore.  Like some other people have said, the odd thing is that it doesn't always happen, I probably get the "ultra-hangovers" 75% of the time, and the other 25% of the time I just have a "normal" hangover the next day, where I feel tired and have a headache but can still function. I have never found any answers for why this happens, I have talked to my doctor about it and obviously she just tells me not to drink, but I also had liver function tests done that showed everything was normal. I am healthy with no medical issues. I can tell you that the older you get the worse it gets. Sorry, it really does suck, and no one understands since it doesn't happen to most people.

I have the wierdest hangovers now.  I'm almost 31 years old and I use to drink a lot when I was in my early to mid twenties. Depending on how much I would drink I would have a standard hangover.  Sometimes I would be sick the whole day but once I would throw up I would be ok.  I would still be able to somewhat function.  I could go to work, I would feel like c**p but I would still get up and go to work.  Now, my hangovers have me bedridden. And it doesnt take a lot of alcohol anymore to make me feel this way.  If I drink on an empty stomach it's the worse! It doesnt matter if I start eating later or not. It's like my stomach burns, I'm nautious, and I have to make myself throw up.  I would try to drink water but it would make the nausea worse.  I would drink the water then have to throw it up.  It's always the same, I will throw up until the vomit is yellow.  I wouldnt start feeling better untill all the yellow vomit was out.  I would keep having to vomit until I guess the majority of whatever the yellow stuff is was out.  I refer to it as "the poison"; I have to get "the poison" out in order to feel better. This would happen throughout the day and usually I wouldnt start feeling better until maybe 8 o'clock at night.  I can't eat, I cant drink water, because it would just come right back up.  I dont know its very strange but the pattern is always the same.  I know me getting older is a factor and my body isnt as resiliant as it use to be.  I also do suffer from stomach issues.  I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease/Ulcerative Colits about 5 years ago so I'm sure this a leading factor.  However, my main fear is that it may also have something to do with my liver.  I havent been to the doctor about this specific issue yet (abnormal hangover) so I'm unsure if its only the disease or if I am now allergic to alcohol or if I'm having liver issues as well.

Yup, 30 female, this is me as well for the past 2 years, totally off of Birth control now, all of these descriptions match mine. I'm going to look into it, but I was recently prescribed doxycycline, and I can drink again! Like normal!! With absolutely no hangover. Now one glass of wine or half a beer don't put me into instant migraine/hugging the toilet. Not sure what's going on but I'm bringing it up to my MD next visit.

I am so glad I found this chat!

I am 24 but for the last 3/4 years I have been suffering for these HORRIBLE hangovers! I drink water and eat when I get back but I wake up with a severe migrane which I then know means a whole day of vomiting! I can even drink water without vomiting. I am honestly so sick of being sick!  I really want to know what it is. I even tried milk thistle but I feel like this doesn't help with the migranes which causes the sickness. As soon as I stop having a headache I stop being sick.

please help, I just want to party with my friends without having to write off the next day.

Ps I don't think I drink that much, I eat before I go out but I am a size 6, but usually eat a lot especially before a night out.

I've experienced exactly the same. I'm 25years old and have always suffered from hangovers but it was after my 22nd birthday that this hangover started happening on various occasions. I admit that I've hit it hard the day before but I've hit it hard at other times and had just a standard hangover. Saturday was probably one of the worst days of my life, I could barely function or keep my head up. I couldn't stop vomiting and I was in constant pain. I managed to eat yesterday but due to the vomiting, wretching and dry heaving, I've strained all the muscles in my chest and stomach. I don't know whether it's something I'm drinking, a particular shot but whatever it is..my body hates it.

I don't think mine has any link to my period as I've only been on my period once during it. I think I just need to take it steady for now on but if anyone ever finds out exactly what it is then I'll definitely be happy to hear!

Wow!! In such a similar situation 23 yeae old female and about 21 it was like something just chagned and I am deathly sick the next day. I know it doesn't have anything to do with my mensteral cycle or birth control. I find avoiding sugary drinks helps a little such vodka cran I can not touch, twisted tea hurts me as well. Please add me to the email list I dint need to be able to go hard every night but between the weddings and bachelorett parties you attend in your twenties it sure would be nice to be able to move the next day.

27 year old male. I'm sitting here at 8:30pm after going out for 4 beers last night for my birthday. my hangover right now can only be described as incredible, all day puking. this happens frequently for me, i can't drink at all anymore despite only a few years ago drinking 20+ beers on a night out and being reasonably fine the next day. doctors suspect i have crohns disease if this info helps anyone. 2 weeks since my previous last drink. I'm thinking allergy also. on top of the hangover my stomach is on fire and i cant breathe through my nose.
