I'm in a similar situation . I've got endos which makes life very difficult . The methadone made me gain so much weight that it made me relapse alot. I dropped from 50-19 ml in a few months and lostt over 6stone it was amazing when I saw the loss of weight as I dropped I couldn't stop I became obsessed. .I'm on serequel which is a heavyweight gainer so I've gone from 85lb to 140lb in two years I'm so sad. Now my ed is in full swing I've even stoped taking my medication. To loose weight.

I was on 197Mg of methadone daily for a year and two months, Detoxed cold turkey July 24th- Not by Choice I should say- ( Don't wish that upon my worst enemy) I literally died and came back to life I believe! Its now Ending October and I just recently got put on suboxone 8 MG strip daily. Is being on such a high dose of methadone the reason I feel as if the suboxone I'd not working well for me? I'm still having terrible cravings, It'll be going on a week that I started my first strip. I too gained a sh*t ton of weight on methadone not not until about my 6Th month bit from 6-12 months gained 73 pounds

I can tell you for almost an absolute fact that your opiate receptors are not fully covered by your subs or whatever you were taking. Methadone is poison. If I’m high enough dose you will retain water. It’s j healthy water weight. I was on Done two different stints. Got fat on high dose and couldn’t gain weight in low dose. Make sure your opiate receptors are being mostly, if not all covered. If you are on Suboxone get to the right dose stay on it and you won’t gain healthy weight or lose unhealthy weight

I’m reply to people who state “people are high as a kite on methadone” I don’t think it’s appropriate to assume methadone is a one size fits all kind of idea. I’ve been on methadone for 3 years (clean since day one) medical problems are what’s stopping me from getting off the damn stuff, it’s hard to go through withdrawals while you are already I’ll. Currently I’m only at 55mg of methadone, but even at a high dose I NEVER got high! No euphoria, no light headednes, did not do the nod or fall asleep. All it did was make me feel normal, like I did before I started using. Just so I had no pain, or nausea, and energy to get through my day to be able to go to work, clean, cook etc. Not EVERYONE gets high, and not everyone does the nod. Perhaps if you are still using drugs, or taking other opiate like medications like Percocet, or morphine, take anti depressants, benzos or sleeping pills, then yeah of course you would feel high, and yes some people do get a small temporary high from large doses of methadone, I guess it depends on on your chemistry and how your
body metabolizes things. The reason this bothers me, is not only the above comment methadone makes you high, it’s comments like these that don’t allow people like myself to feel proud that I’m no longer using drugs, because such comments cause a stigma that people on methadone are still drug addicts because they are consuming something that makes them get high just like any other narcotic! This is not true! I stopped drugs because I hate what they did to me and my life, because I want to function with a clear healthy mind, because I want to live my life like a normal person, not continue as I did on drugs, if this were the case I wouldn’t take methadone.

In my experience, it was not four days, I had to stop my Fentanyl the night before. As soon as withdrawal started Suboxone was started. I have been on Suboxone three years and it works ok for my pain management, I was able to "do more" on Fentanyl, but the side effects and the negative publicity was scaring my family. I have gained weight on Suboxone, but I am not sure if it is the drugs fault.
I know nothing about methadone. I have never heard anything about ppl contemplating suicide. Wishing you the best in your journey.
