hi ladies: i am 57 and i had a total hysterectomy 2 1/2 weeks ago, except ovaries... my symtoms were NOTHING except for 1 period for 1 week in july, 3 years after i had stopped having them. i just happened to schedule an annual since my insurance was going away. I had it lapascopically and it was a large grapefruit size fibroid-- total weight with uterus 2 lbs. i have no medical conditions and walk alot. i stayed over night because it took them longer to get it all out. i had the catherter out that next morning and started to walk. took the pain med while i was in the hospital because it was in the pump, but NEVER felt any pain. had it on a friday was home saturday by 2pm--didn't need the pain meds at all, just took some midol at night to help sleep-- took 1 week off of work only because i have a sit down job and it was easy to come back. I feel great, have to watch heavy lifting, of course , no sex for about 6 more weeks--and i cannot jog or do strength training on my lower body. it came back benign and i feel wonderful but do get tired easily still. They couldn't believe i never felt any pain! so happy i did this !

Hi, I had it done! Supricervical hysterectomy, kept both ovaries. I feel great, the first five days were uncomfortable, after that each day got better. I have lost just a couple pounds. I feel so much better physically. It is almost one month already.

Got 'er Done on Dec 2! I pray it's weight loss and not weight gain. I think women that are "estrogen dominant" gain weight more easily. I'm hoping that weight yoyo stops here! Btw there are hormone disrupters in plastic water bottles such as benzene! I think toxins like these are really affecting our hormones as women. Re the surgery, it was really intense and painful for about 3 days, then I needed no more narcotics and each day has been better since then. I slept a LOT for about a full week but my body has other issues like MS that affect my energy level. I had the robotic laperascopic "Davinci" method. The incisions are healing quickly! :) I really struggled with my decision but my Uterus was found to have moderate to severe endometriosis and had several fibroid tumors. My body knew something was wrong! Listen to your body! Heavy bleeding is NOT normal!

I had some weight gain, BUT it is not from the hysterectomy. The cold weather has made me lazy to do my extra walking and I have been eating more. it has been almost 2 months now, and believe me, it is my focus for getting the weight off in this weather mixed with holiday eating, not the hysterectomy

I had a total hysterectomy 3 weeks ago laparoscopically. I was diagnosed with uterine cancer, and this was all fairly quick . Prior to surgery I had lost 11 lbs. in the previous 3 months while eating normally., but having new (for me) bowel issues.
I have lost 9 lbs. since, I am 114 lbs. now and 5'4". My taste buds changed with the surgery, and nothing tastes the same or appetizing. My pain is very little now, just occasional, but I still need a nap every day! The weight loss at this point concerns me. It's not always a positive thing.

That is how I feel...the pain and suffering I was going thru is gone. I feel like I have a new life and energy to get up and workout. I was so fatigued and sick before surgery. No weight gain at all, actually lost 6 pounds by exercising more. Walking feels good now because pain is gone. It took me over a year to make the decision for this surgery.
