No, not at all. Don't rush your body. I was off work for two months and I'm in law enforcement. It was the best thing I've ever done. I'm 47 and I had my surgery on Jan 12, 2015. I was walking the next morning.......There are more positive sides to this than negative. Hope you're doing well.

This is not true. There is a supracervical hyster procedure that mantains the ligamentous support of the cervix. The cervic is the bottom and supported part of the uterus. It can be maintained with modern procedures, if your doc is current

Thank you for your post and the after surgery breakdown. This has really been helpful. My surgery is scheduled for next week and after reading all these positive posts I don't feel as scared as I did last week. Thanks again!

My uterus had been taken over by fibroids. for the last few years, my periods had become so bad, that they were lasting almost 2 weeks. I was exhausted all the time. I had a partial hysterectomy (only uterus removed) a week ago. I had the laproscopic Davinci robotic surgery. This surgery requires them to fill your belly with air like a balloon. Just having a hard stomach for a few days was weird, but after that gas is gone, you start to feel better. I was able to go to breakfast a couple days later (my birthday) but I rested for the week. I got plenty of rest thanks to my husband. I feel great. I still have another week before seeing the doctor, but rest I think is the key. I was on pain killers for a couple days. Remember to take Colace and laxative so you do not strain. The best part, I am down 9.5 lbs

Hello Everyone,

I had a vaginal hysterectomy on nov 20, 2015. I also read different things online that had me terrified! However, the surgery went well, no issues. I had minor concerns as did my doctor, due to 3 c sections and a lot of scar tissue. He did say navigating through that was a challenge. Also, my uterus appeared to be "attached" to my bladder, which he warned way before the surgery that if their is any trauma to my bladder, a urologist would be on standby to repair immediately. Thankfully, that was not necessary, and all is well.
Pain right after was pretty hard, I can't lie. But remember I had 3 c sections! Pain is not as bad, but it hurts! I am on my second week of recovery, an I no longer need the narcotics. I do take a Motrin at night still before bed. Now it seems more sore than pain. I rest plenty, but my youngest is 4 so I rely a lot on help from the family. I am a sheriff, so work is off the table until January. Can't even imagine putting on a gun belt right now!!!

My advice is to not listen to the horror stories. If you need it, don't hesitate to get. Also remember, if you are having a vaginal one, don't underestimate the fact that this is major surgery. You will not be able to do a lot, so set up your support system before you get home!

Good luck and I pray you all do well and have a speedy recovery and safe surgeries!!!

Thank you, I am also glad I found this site. Glory B to God! Christians testifying is just what I needed to read. I found so much other negative stuff. I wanted to keep my faith that everything would be fine, but kept seeing the negative. I will favorite this site so that after December 15 I can post my great experience also.
