If meds like Prilosec don't work, have a specialist check for Achalasia. This is the opposite of GERD. I had the same symptoms you all describe, and for 18 years I was diagnosed with GERD, though no GERD meds ever worked for me. Finally I went to a gastroenterologist who was smart enough to test me for achalasia, and BINGO! there it was.

I was operated on, and my problem was solved.

Hi. I'm a 20 year old female, and was diagnosed with Severe Acid Reflux at the age of 12. When I was 15, I started having the same problem. They checked my galbladder, and stomach for different things, but everything came up negitive. Then after doing some deep research, I came up with the idea of Achalasia.. (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) when I brought it up to my doctor, I was tested for it and it was clear as day that this was it.

Also, I have a, what is called, Lazy Stomach. Where my stomach doesn't digest food correctly or enough. I could go 16+ hours on a single meal, because the food was still in my stomach. Which caused Achalasia to worsen... I was suggested for surgery to fix the esphagus valve, but I declined.

In the end, there isn't really a cure.. Just home treatments. I had to break up my meals into smaller portions, chew each bite throughly and stay away from high acid foods. And I'm doing better.. Sometimes I slip up and eat a slice of tomato, and I'm sent back into the reason why I stopped it in the first place. But you get the point...

Yes, I also experienced that hollow and full feeling too. What I would normally do is stuck a finger in my throat and try to vomit. I do feel a lot better afterward but of course I don't want to continue gagging and throwing up every time it happens. I feel drained after puking and it sucked. I hope to know what it is.

Please have your doctor run a sonogram on your gall bladder. I had chest pain and upset stomach for more than a year. I went to doctors, specialists et al and felt like I was having a heart attack every night. This led to a development of anxiety - which didn't help either issue. An ENT told me I had Acid Reflux after I developed a feeling of something stuck in my throat periodically. My husband thought it was all psychological. The GI guy did a endoscopy and found nothing - good but frustrating also. We did a nuclear radiological dye test too - found a lot of gas on my stomach. REALLY?? After 10 different meds and no relief, someone did a sonogram on my gall bladder. It was full of stones. They removed it and the results have been MUCH better. I still have acid reflux, which I take Nexium daily for and I get chest pain once in a while - but it is once every few months, rather than daily. Please have that checked if you are at your wits end and know that it isn't all in your head. Good luck and God Bless.....

Take 1tbsp organic cider vinegar twice a day. I would incorporate into daily life and symptoms will subside. Treating an acid build up with acid works by stopping the body from over creating acid since it is already there. Treating acid build up with antacids and medication works temporarily causing your body to over produce to make more acid and you get the repeat cycle. This method also works for asthma and a wide range of problems.

Sounds like you have gastritis if you had this for a while now and you've been eating healthy then you might have anxiety .. I used to have these symptoms for a long time .. My doctors first told me I had a virus infection that it will go away on it own few months later I went again for chest pain and they said take ibuprofen i was taking 800ml a day for a month i went again with stomach pain and chest pain then they said I had gastritis which is acid reflux, then they said to take zantacs and I had really bad chest pain and breathing problems 4 months past and I still had it, so I went to a different hospital and they said that I don't have acid reflux that I have anxiety disorder.. 2 years past already and I still have pain on my stomach and chest pains every now and then ... And I stopped going to the hospital cause they just taking my money and their not even helping I've paid close to 15k and I still owe them like 7k more for all them x rays and sound waves each x ray was 700 the visit to the er is 500 sound wave 2 k? And Another big machine that scan my full body was 5k plus blood test and all that junk these doctors did all these and they still couldn't tell me what I have now I'm on medication taking pills for depression to hide my pain but I know that I don't suffer from depression I just take it cause it takes my pain away I just know that the withdraw is going to kill me I recommend you get in a diet for maybe 2-3 months get lean foods try to improve your immune system go out for jogs everyday now and then don't take pills stop visiting the hospital these doctors just want to get paid they will make things worse and make you think that you have something that you don't

I know this was a long time ago, but you might want to get tested for h-pilori. Not sure if I spelled it correctly, but for nearly three years I was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome, turns out it wasn't.
