Hello! I have a friend who wears glasses. I like him very much since we go to school together. He is very nice and kind person and we love the same things. He told me he has a degenerative myopia. I don’t know what it is. Since I didn’t want to look stupid in his eyes I couldn’t ask him to explain it to me. He doesn’t look degenerative at all.
Hello! I think you are little bit confused with the meaning of the word “degenerative”. Well, degenerative myopia usually starts at birth or during the pre-teen years. It is probably hereditary. Degenerative myopia is actually high degree myopia which is a chronic condition that may create serious problems since it is usually connected with some changes at the back of the eye. There is a possibility of sight loss. The usual treatments are optical correction, intra-ocular pressure control, and attention to complications that may occur
