I have morning sickness, I'm 15 and I've had it ever since middle school. I wake up feel awful, sweats, throwing up, pale. It looks like I have a deadly disease, but it passes after I drink coffee, coke, anything carbonated, or hot drink. Or if I don't get a chance to drink, then it'll pass around 11 or 12 and I'll feel fine for the rest of the day. Idk what it is, but I want it gone. It makes it close to impossible to do anything in the morning and throwing up on the bus is a daily event. I get motion sickness too, so I have pills for that, but they don't help my nausea...

I'm in my 20's and I've had nausea for about a year. It all started about a year ago when eating and drinking became extremely difficult. I would feel full and often nauseated after eating very little. At some point I had severe abdominal pain for several hours and then passed out and rushed to the ER. I was diagnosed with dehydration and some mild infection, so they gave me lots of fluids and antibiotics. My inability to eat kept getting worse (even though I was desperately trying to eat) and at some point I was told that I really needed to eat more and gain some weight. I started stuffing myself with cookies, ice cream, and other fatty food, trying to force as much food down as I could. However, I could only keep it up for a few days/weeks and then I would get all nauseous again and hardly able to eat.

One day the nausea got significantly worse and I was unable to eat for several days. I went to see multiple doctors and was given Maalox and some anti nausea medication. The medications worked for a couple of hours, and then I'd get really nauseous again. At some point I was given Prilosec, which made my symptoms significantly worse (it works for most people, but not for everyone). Eventually I was misdiagnosed with an eating disorder (even though I was desperately trying to eat and gain weight) and sent to an eating disorder facility, where I was forced to eat a ton of food, which made my symptoms even worse. One day the nausea was so bad that it made me vomit for several hours straight. From that day on I would get extremely nauseous and vomit nearly every morning (even just acid).

After several visits to the ER, negative abdominal ultrasounds, and nausea and vomiting all day I was given lots of meds and had an endoscopy done. I was diagnosed with GERD and gastritis and put on a very strict diet. I still had morning nausea (which started getting better), but at least the vomiting stopped. One of the most helpful medications was Zofran, which made my nausea go away almost entirely. I would get up really early (before the nausea would wake me), take Zofran (without getting out of bed, otherwise I'd get nauseous) and go back to sleep. Another helpful medication (which took several days/weeks to fully work) was Zantac. I also found Sucralfate helpful. Since food would often irritate my stomach, I would drink Resorce Breeze or Ensure Enlive on mornings on which I was very nauseous. In the afternoons I would only eat BRAT diet food (i.e. bread, banana, apple sauce and rice). Now, (a few months later) I am still on Zantac (morning and night) and I feel significantly better. I occasionally get nauseous in the morning, but it rarely makes me vomit. If the nausea is really really bad, I take zofran and the nausea goes away within 30-60 minutes. I am still on a strict diet (GERD diet) which requires me to avoid caffeine, tomatoes, chocolate, really fatty food and citrus containing food/citric acid (not easy, but seems to work). I also avoid ibuprofen and naproxen. I also sleep on two firm pillows. I try to get at least 7.5 otherwise I feel nauseous in the morning. I've been told that it could take even as long as 6 months on this strict diet and Zantac (twice daily) for the nausea and vomiting to go away entirely. I hope this helps.

I'm 15 years old and have been dealing with this morning sickness everyday for over a month now. I've seen my family doctor who said my symptoms were odd and dont make sense to anything she could think of. I also went to Emergency at the Childrens hospital to get bloodwork and an ultrasound. Nothing came up on either and im still getting sick. I wake up early in the mornings (between 5-6:30) on my own because i feel sick and i often throw up quite a bit in the morning. Any suggestions ?

Lol, this is almost comical to me.  I can't believe so many people suffer from the SAME THING I've had from as far back as I can remember (I'm 35).  I've narrowed mine down to some strange things...one of them being the dew on the grass in the morning.  The reason is, if I wake up after it's gone, I don't tend to feel the nausea so much.  Another serious problem for me, was seeing the sun come up "period"...something about that period of the morning, and not long after it, will always trigger it, no matter how pretty it might be and whether I've slept 1 hour or 12.  I used to think that it was about the amount of sleep I got...and would try to go to bed earlier.  But, it wasn't triggered by lack of sleep--it is always triggered by that period in the morning between the sun coming up, and the dew being evaporated off of the ground.

I've said that I have morning sickness every day...people think I'm nuts.  The only reason I came online to look it up, is that my daughter (age 11) is now experiencing the same thing...every single morning.

It's good to know I have company, as sorry as I am that others have to go through the same thing.  I've noticed that in the first four pages, there doesn't seem to be a definite cause that anyone has found, or any true remedy.  This is unfortunate.

After being sick with this for two months, I found something that fixed my morning sickness problem.

Zyrtec.

Yep, that's it!  I feel ridiculous, but I think it was the post-nasal drip in my stomach.  I've heard the allergies were bad this year, and I didn't experience allergies in the traditional sense, but the Zyrtec helped 100%.

I've still got an endoscopy scheduled for this month, since the GI wants to check for EE.  But I feel alive again, and that's what matters to me.

I hope everyone gets feeling better!

I am 44 and have also went thru the exact same thing, every morning!!!! However I was dx'd with a duodenal ulcer 20 yrs ago and do find I am much better with a good night sleep and less acidic diet.. Protien in the morning after I move around a bit helps to relieve some.

Didn't read the whole thread, so this may have been mentioned, but morning nausea could be related to gastroparesis. I was getting sick nearly every morning, usually nausea not vomiting, but if I did vomit nothing really came up. If I slept in, it tended not to happen. Had already been diagnosed with GERD. Was finally tested for GP and clearly that was the problem (and related to the GERD). My GI waited to test me because it usually occurs with older diabetics, but it seems to be moving to the rest of the population. I'm 27 and not diabetic. There is medication for it, but I've been managing with just changes in diet. It's been about 3 months and I'm feeling much better. It's a pretty simple test, I encourage you to talk to your doctor about it.

Good luck all, hope you figure out what the problem is.
