I am 60 years old and have been having morning nausea. What could be causing this?

I used to get this. Sometimes it may be the result of indigestion, when there is far too much acid in your stomach. If this is a regular occurrence you might consider eating your supper earlier than usual, and then drinking chamomile tea with slippery elm bark, to avoid indigestion. If the stomach upset continues, you should see a doctor, it could be an ulcer.

I am also 60 and have had morning nausea for a couple of months. After I eat something I feel better but then it typically creeps back up on me. Usually after lunch I'm fine. I do not feel that I have indigestion and have no stomach pains. Any other ideas?

I have had this for 10 months now and it has been hellish. It started out with diarrhea and extreme nausea which would wake me up at 3am. It would last for most of the day but sometimes get a bit better towards the end of the day.

I lost 30 lbs in 2 months and landed in emergency 3 times for dehydration. They found a parasite called blastocystis and none of the Drs believed this was the cause. They put me on antibiotics to rule it out and one made me way worse and the other (metronidazole) made me worse while taking it but then the diarrhea slowly disappeared and the blasto was eradicated

After numerous tests, they found out my gallbladder was completely non-functioning and that I had a slight gastrtitis/ulcer. I started to eat an ulcer diet (no caffeine, alcohol, low fat) which helped a bit. Had my gallbladder out (they found no problems with it when examined so no idea why it stopped except maybe the rapid weight loss)-anyways...long story short is that I am still feeling nauseated in the mornings and sometimes when I'm tired. It is much less severe now and definitely gets worse with alcohol and caffeine so my doctor thinks the stomach is just taking a long time to heal - I hope this is the case as it is very persistent!

I am still wondering if there is something else wrong but I would suggest going to the doctor to check up for an ulcer as the previous poster suggested and maybe someone else can shed light on any other possible explanations for the morning nausea....

I was 35 when it started and very healthy with no health issues prior.

I am 20 years old and have a similar problem with this morning nausea thing. I feel fine throughout the entire day, but whenever I go to sleep and then wake up in the morning, I feel like I am going to throw up and consequently can't eat breakfast and have to have a smaller lunch. I have no idea where this came from and why it has lasted almost a month, but it is kinda annoying. Is there something I can take before I go to bed to stop this from happening when I wake up? Any suggestions would be great. I used to live in Tucson Arizona, but am now going to school in Seattle. Could the climate change have anything to do with it? Thanks for any advice.

I am also 20 years old and experienced this just this morning, and while it dwindled during the day, it returned (though mildly so) tonight. When I got up this morning I felt like I was going to faint and vomit, Ive never relaly felt this way before, and there is absolutely no possibility of pregnancy. Strangely enough, my best friend who lives 4 states east of me, has been experiencing the same thing lately. Its very annoying because you feel like you want to eat, but if you do, you might vomit. I hope this does not continue!

I am completely on the same page as hartid1. I wake up every morning just to feel nausea. Lately I have been coughing some which would make me gag and bring on more close calls. I have in fact threw up a few times. once in the morning before work and once in the driveway after work.
Trying to figure out if there is something I could take to prevent this. My mom says it's nerves. But I'm just not sure.

I'm having the same problem as the posters above . . . nausea every morning, and I've vomited a few times. I stopped taking my birth control pill because I thought that might be causing it, but the nausea has continued. Ulcer? Stress? Does anyone know?

I'm 48 and have suffered from morning nausea since my teens. Sometimes I feel so ill I actually faint. This is clearly not connected with pregnancy since I have never been pregnant. It has lessened somewhat in the past 12 years, since I have been on HP blockers (like Zantac, Tagamet and Pepcid) for gastritis/ GERD, so it may well be connected to excess stomach acid production. But it's not completely gone, and it worsens if I have had too little sleep, get up too quickly or too early. I have very low blood pressure, so it may also be related to that.

I have just learned to live with this symptom; I call it being allergic to morning. I try to always get at least 6 hours of sleep. I set my alarm for an hour before I actually have to get out of bed, so I can wake up slowly. I sit up in bed for awhile before I actually try standing up. I allow plenty of time to get ready to go to work, so I don't pass out at the office. I found drinking liquid helps -- hot tea works for me, and so do fluids with electrolytes, like Propel. After an hour or so I can eat something -- a little plain yogurt is good, but try to experiment to see what works for you. By lunchtime I am usually well enough to have a normal (but small and light) lunch.

In spite of all this, I'll never be my best in the morning. I catch fire around 1:00 PM, when others are feeling sleepy after lunch, and am most awake and productive in the afternoons and evenings. I suspect this perpetual morning sickness is just one of those differences among human beings that makes some of us night people.

My nausea in the morning started around age 34 and is every day. It get s better after my shower and breakfast. When I first get up I feel shaky and am very close to throwing up. My Dr. tells me I am fine and it might be a drop in my sugar levels during the night? I would like an answer because it is very annoying and I hate not feeling well. I am 38 now and it doesn't every go away.

I also have experienced morning nausea, but I am only 14 years old. When I wake up, I am fine, but then when I go to eat breakfast, I start having horrible nausea. There have also been numerous times when my stomach felt like it was filled with gas and I couldn't eat at all as a result. Fried foods seem to provoke these different symptoms, but sometimes it's just random.

I am a 22 year old mother, with the same issue.. it only just started within the last week or two, and it's only first thing in the morning. I tend to feel better after having a BM, and drinking some water. I am not pregnant either. I've noticed the last few days I've been a lot more gassy than usual too. perhaps brought on by stress?

Im 16 and I have the same thing.

When I wake up I feel only a little nauseous, but by the time I get to the shower I am ready to throw up, though I seldom do.

After I throw up or wait a while, the feeling passes and I can go about my day.

I am 17 years old and also have this issue. I wake up in the morning feeling nearly sick enough to wonder if I have the flu. Sometimes I will vomit and then I will feel better, and sometimes I can't and the feeling sticks with me until around 12pm. Eating rarely helps and it seems the less sleep I get, the worse it is the next morning. It's really annoying and is interfering with my attention at school.

I'm going to give the chamomile tea a try and see if it helps. Its nice to know I'm not the only one with this issue. :-)
