I have been taking omeprazole, but it isn't working. See, if I get up without being awaken by an alarm clock, I am fine. Otherwise, I wake up and start my day with my head in the toilet. Also, I have been experiencing a loss of appetite. Food always sounds good, but once I take a bite I feel as though I am going to vomit. My stomach feels queasy and I just can't do it.
I might be going to the doctor soon, so hopefully he will give me some helpful information on why this is happening.
P.S. I have had it for about 1 1/2 months now. This started when I started school.

I'm 59. Have the same symptoms as most here. Had an abdominal ultrasound--everything perfect. I don't have any heart problems, blood pressure, diabetes. I take no prescription drugs.
It's probably a peptic ulcer:
Abdominal pain with a burning or gnawing sensationPain 2 - 3 hours after eatingPain is often made worse by an empty stomach; nighttime pain is commonPain may be relieved by antacids or milkHeartburnIndigestion (dyspepsia)BelchingNauseaVomitingPoor appetiteWeight lossPeptic ulcers -- open sores in the lining of the stomach, esophagus, or duodenum (the first part of the intestine -- are common. According to the American College of Gastroenterology, about 20 million Americans will develop an ulcer during their life. Contrary to popular belief, ulcers are not caused by spicy food or stress. Instead, a type of bacteria called Helicobacter pylori is usually to blame. Long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen (Advil) can also cause ulcers.
My nausea is near the duodenum, which is in the same area as the gall bladder so it's misleading many times.

My sister n law is diabetic and i'm not sure about the symptoms of fainting spells but the shaking of hands is diffinitly a sign that it's your sugar. If you have not been tested for diabetes your best bet is to have this done. You might need to be put on some form if diabetic meds or shots.
Wishing you the best.

Hello all,
I've been having this same issue for about a week now. I am a 20 year old, I barely have time to sleep, I haven't eaten my normal meals lately because even the smell of food makes my stomach cringe. I chew gum just so I can have some kind of flavor to savor on, but if I take a bite of anything, the nausea worsens. I've been drinking tea this whole week and frankly it is the only thing that doesn't make me feel sick. I've been told that it might be acid, but I have taken a few medications, antiacids and even pain killers to see if it might go away. I've been researching to see if I can find the cause, but nothing. If there is anyone that can help in any way, it will very much be appreciated.

The juices in your stomach are ACIDIC. When you mix these two (alkaline and acidic), gas is created. Its simple chemistry.
So, my point is if any of you are burping excessively particularly when you have nausea, then this may be your problem. The bile is not very good for the lining of your stomach, causing inflammation. There is a drug called motillium which may help, but of course it is prescription so you really need to see your doc. This is what some gastros call "bile reflux," but it is much less common than acid reflux.
If you dont excessively burp all day long, and you still suffer from nausea in the morning (and you arent pregnant), then its most likely (but not definately) acid reflux. Acid reflux is where the cells lining your stomach produce too much gastric juice, causing inflammation of your stomach and hence nausea. Also the rhythmic movements of your stomach may malfunction causing the acidic juices to be pushed upwards into the oesophagus (causing heartburn), hence the 'reflux' part of acid reflux.
Acid reflux is brought on very strongly by stress, your diet, and excessive weight. For stress try to minimise it (useless advice really). For your diet avoid spicy foods, caffiene and alcohol. If you are obese then you need to deal with that problem with a combination of dieting and exercise.
When you sleep you are normally lying flat. If you have acid reflux, or have had a large meal just before bed, this can cause the gastric juices to flow upwards towards your oesophagus, irritating it and leading to the nausea in the morning. So, to help deal with this a great thing you can do is to elevate your bed (just slightly, a little elevation goes a long way). Putting two bricks under the frame of your bed (so between the floor and your bed) at the end where you lie on your pillow is enough to help reduce this problem. What you want is your head to toe to be sloping downwards ever so slighty. Trust me it helps alot. If this doesnt help as much as im saying it does, then try placing 4 bricks (2 on one side and 2 on the other). there is no need to elevate your bed to 45 degrees or anything silly, like i said a small amount makes a big difference, as it helps the gastric juices to stay in your stomach rather than irritate your oesophagus.
Also, it is very important to avoid large meals right before bed. I would suggest not eating anything for 1.5 hours before going to sleep. liquid is fine.
From my experience, anti-acids do not help a great deal. However for some people they work very well, so do not refuse to give them a try just because some people havent benifitted from them.
I hope this advice has helped, its what has made me recover strongly from this dehabilitating and depressing disease.
Good luck :-)
