Hello. I'm 47 year old female and I have some very important questions. About a week ago my son has noticed that my eyes got this mild yellowish color but I didn’t think that it could anything serious.
The problems is that two days after my whole body turned into yellow and then I contacted my doctor the same day.
Because I was suffering from mild pain located under my right rib arc- he suspected that it has something to do with my liver and bile duct.
What surprised me- he didn’t sent me on normal x-ray exam as he was talking about, but told me that I should visit some doctor in two days and do some pictures with fluoroscope. Does anybody knows what the hell is that!
First of all, you shouldn’t panic at all because it is harmless diagnostic tool. I totally understand why he sent you to do this fluoroscopy!
It is something totally similar to standard X-ray because it combines an X-ray source and a fluorescent screen to enable direct observation.
I must tell you that X-ray pictures are more detailed then these made with fluoroscope but there is one thing which is better with fluoroscopy!
Fluoroscopy is much more detailed and perfect when the doctor-radiologist wants to see the live image of the tissue.
He probably wants to see the flow of bile through the ducts and to determine where is possible blockade!
A hidascan with ultrasound is good and then an ERCP, which is a tube inserted via mouth under anesthesia that runs down to bile duct with dye. This will tell if there is an obstruction which can be fixed during procedure.
