I have been suffering with this for nearly a year. I have been to urologists, gynecologists, and evening a urogynecologist. They had NO clue. After each examination, I was told "I don't really see anything, cultures are negative, but maybe try this" which led to a multitude of antibiotics, yeast infection meds, estrogen cream, lidocaine, steroid cream, etc. Each time, it would seem to help a little but then come right back.

I FINALLY got a diagnosis. Vestibular Vulvadynia. There are 3 glands that make sort of a triangle. The gland at the top is situated very close to the urethra. That's why I thought I had urethral burning. And every time I went to the bathroom, it burned- after I urinated. And also burned throughout the day. And also I felt like I had to pee constantly. And had bladder pressure.   The other 2 glands are on either side but down a little closer to the vaginal opening. It is NERVE pain. Yes, keeping it moisturized with Aquaphor or something will help but you must address the NERVE pain. By the way, low dose birth control makes it worse- you are not crazy. And as an aside, sex really wasn't painful and actually made me feel better afterwards temporarily (like a few hours) probably due to stretching of pelvic floor.

I was given the following:

Antidepressant (very low dose) calms the nerves

Vaginal Valium (10) due to pelvic floor tightness

Uro-MP helps calm the bladder spasms

Gabapentin cream to apply to the 3 glands 2 x day. Nerve blocker.

Osphena estrogen replacement

I am waiting for the Gabapentin cream to arrive but I have been using the antidepressant and URO MP for 2 days and I feel a MILLLION times better already!

so who did I get this diagnosis from?? Go on the Vulvadynia National Website. Click on find a doctor in your area.  Turned out to be a urologist that specializes in vulvadynia. Took me a month to get an appointment but it was the best thing I ever did. I truly hope this helps someone. I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy.

Good luck and God bless.

I have a weird sensation in the urethra which comes and goes randomly. I'm a female. I have no idea what to associate it with. What do you think?
