My daughter has been found to suffer from endometrisis. She is only 18 and has been through hell with her periods. Her gynecologist said that this condition could be hereditary but I never had any problems with my periods, I was always regular with slight discomfort during PMS and honestly I don’t even know what endometriosis is. Can you tell me what could have caused this disorder, what exactly does it mean, how it will influence my daughter’s mental and physical health and what her chances of pregnancy are? Thank you so much in advance

Hello! I’ve been having problems with endometriosis for the last five years. My mother also had it, and just like your daughter I started experiencing first symptoms at the age of 18. My periods were incredibly painful, I had cramps, low back problems, and painful sex when I started having intercourses. I was devastated not knowing what the heck was going on with me. I am 25 now and am trying to get pregnant. MY chances of conception are decreased and I am on IVF treatment.
Sometimes it can’t be determined what the cause is. Some doctors believe that the uterus cells have grown out of the uterus but there are plenty other possible causes that I am not aware of. Endometriosis is a disorder where the lining of the uterus grows out of the uterus during ovulation, on other organs and has no way leaving the body during periods. According to your daughter’s symptoms and severity of the disease, her doctor should determine what the proper treatment should be. If she has a milder form of endometriosis, her chances of becoming pregnant are greater.

I'd like to know are there any other treatments out there that I haven't tried.
I have been told that taking my uterus and ovaries won't stop the problem, because it is localizing in other areas. I have been on almost all of the birth controls out there. I have gone through many hormone treatments. I am currently trying message and the second set of lupron depot injections.
I have all the signs of ovarian cancer but no growth.

I've been suffering with Endometriosis since I was 17 but only diagnosed 3 yrs ago. it took forever to convince the doctor to send me for the surgery to diagnose it. It is immensely painful however it won't affect her mental state. she can still have children, its just alot harder to get pregnant but they also have treatments to help with that. The best I think would be a Laparoscopy to remove or vaporize the growths. Its said to be effective in improving fertility.

I'm waiting for that myself so my husband and I can have a child. I can tell you it gets worse over time so do keep an eye on her. Education is the best thing I can recommend....look up the condition and read as much as you can about it. My doctor usually gives me Naproxen for the pain (prescription pain killer)

my mother does not have it yet I do. Its still unknown what the cause is. It can be genetically passed down but it can also just occur in women who's mother may not have it.

ninnette there describes it very well. I have stage 1, considered milder but still insanely painful. I actually double over and sweat from the pain. also keep an eye out for gastinal symptoms that mimic irritable bowel syndrome. I'm suffering from that too which is awful. Pepto bismo helps greatly with that.

here's a link to help out a bit

Hi, I am a person with endometriosis. I'm 34 years now. I underwent a major surgery when I was 27 but then had a baby at 29. Ayurveda treatment provided me relief from pain during periods.
