4th effort. Is it because I'm using an Ipad? Even scrolling shuts me down. So, in a nutshell, my doctor gave me a prescription for Percoset. I found I only needed, in conjunction with , that I only neede2d 1/2 tablet every 4 or 6 hrs for 7 days. I have an additional suggestion. I have bipolar disorder, and as part of my treatment I take Gabapentin on occasion for anxiety. It's also been helpful for PMS. It's labeled uses are for epilepsy, bipolar disorder, but also neuropathy (nerve pain). I've been taking one 300 mg capsule along with Ibuprofen and have found it very helpful. As of day 8, I'm feeling a lot better. One might ask their doctor to add a short term Gabapentin prescription for recovery, just to try it. It's a very safe drug. It may make you feel a bit groggy, but for me not much. Oxycodone makes me feel more soi, and it's addictive. Gabapentin is not. Use for PMS is totally off-label, and I've never met a doctor that suggested itl. I tried it on my own (because I had the prescription, to use as needed for anxiety or sleep). It works for me, but everyone's chemistry is different. I gave my husband some to help him quit smoking. It helped. He's not bipolar, buit it helped. I hhope these comments will help others. Best Regards Mary

Just wanted to see how your lasting results were from your Novasure procedure? I am 4 days post op and have had very little discharge (almost none on the liner). I am a little worried that I should have something more going on than that. Even the light cramping has stopped completely. Curious to see if you have had any more periods since your ablation? My periods seemed very similar to yours before.
Thanks for any input.

I am scheduled to have mine done on a Thur. and was told by both my doctor & the surgen that I would be good to go back to work that following Monday; is this not true? How long should I actually plan on taking off from work?

I would have to say that most people can go back to work in a couple of days, some even the day after. I guess it all depends on if you have anesthesia or not. My doctor did mine with a local, along with two antianxiety pills and a pain pill. I did not feel a thing during the procedure, but I did have severe pains once I got home that lasted almost two hours, but immediately went away when I took two more pain pills, in which I was due for them, and a heating pad. With my recovery I would have gone back to work on Monday and I had mine on a Friday, but I am off for the summer months. I wish you the best of luck. Please let me know if you have any other questions. It seems like there is too many horror stories out there when I believe most procedures and recovery go well. I am two and a half weeks post op with no complications. I had my post op appointment yesterday and the doctor released me for everything. Now all I am waiting for is my period which is supposed to show up at the end of this week. Crossing my fingers.

Read your post.....was it worth it? I'm having ablation this Friday and have a family reunion coming up 2 weeks after cross country. I'm really tired of the migraines related to heavy bleeding. I've tried acupuncture, motrin, yoga. Really fed up and interested in your feedback

Hello. I am having endometrial ablation (novasure) tomorrow. Did it reduce periods and terrible cramping? How long did you take off work, if you were working, and how long before you back to normal. I have been told I cannot lift anything too heavy and to rest for a few days. Am getting nervous now. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I had a D&C and ablation this morning. The procedure was super easy under general anesthetic. Doc gave me a prescription for Vicodin and told me to take 600 mg of iubprofen every 6 hours for two days. I started out with some strong back cramps, minimal front cramps. The back cramps were like the labor pains I had. As the medication has been kept on a stable level, the back cramps have eased considerably and the front cramps are gone.
I had some thin pink discharge for the first 8 hours or so. Now it's clear and very minimal. Overall, this being the same day as surgery, I feel pretty darn good.
I go for a follow up with the doctor in one week. I hope to never have another period again!

Hi, I am just wondering, did you get another period yet? I was SO HOPEFULL when I had this procedure done last April, at the time I had a 6 month old baby at home, and my periods have always been bad, well, turns out, my first period after procedure was great, only 2 days and super light, Now, I have had 7 periods since and they are getting worse and worse, not as heavy as before the procedure (but I couldnt even go to the store they were so heavy) but very heavy and lasting a full 7 days! I also had a coil done to prevent surgery, I have done research and it appears a lot of women have this problem, but whats more, they say if you have an irregular shaped uterus (mine is tipped) you shouldnt have it done, well, my dr never told me this! Feeling bummed!

I had this done friday Dec 6th and severe cramping that day . they dont tell you how bad there going to be or what to expect. I got super sick afterwards vomiting 3 times but I know that was because they made me take so many pain pills and i hadnt eaten that is what did that. I have no discharge anymore, and no cramping and I feel normal. If i had to do this over again I wouldnt. Mainly because when you read all the cons they dont explain any of this to you in your office visit. They say that if you dont bleed after the ablation that you can have your uterus fill up with your blood and it can cause issues down the road. Not a happy camper about that one. Each person's body chemistry is different and is affected differently. Im scared to even have sex after a few weeks due to the fact that every time i had sex before the ablation i would bleed from the sex. I dont want to chance getting an infection and they really dont explain or tell you how long it actually takes your uterus to heal completley.

I had mine done on 11-19-13. No one warned me that it was so painfull to have done. Having 3 shots in cervics to numb it, I guess, then being dialated to 6cm was horrible. Both my kids were c-section so never felt that pain before. I was so doped up when I went in but couldn't tell til after it was done then I calmed down & felt the meds again!! Spotted blood the first 2 days then smelly discharge & some cramping. Hard to wear pants because of the somach swelling but getting better. Called Dr. to see if the discharge was normal but from the posts here I guess it is. Its only been one week today so guess I gotta give it a little more time to see how it's gonna turn out. I wish they would've put me under tho because that pain will never leave my mind. I cried like a big baby while recovering. It was almost like pregnancy hormones kicked in or something. Hope this works because I would never go through this again!!!!!
