I started getting coated tongue and picking small bits of gooey stuff from inside of my lips about 2 weeks after I started intermittent fasting. Some say it one of the ways your body detoxifies. Anyone else doing the same?

Thanks for this information I've been having this problem since i switch to this crest prohealth toothpaste. I normally use Rembrant the red box which I love, because I drink a lot of coffee , but the store was out of it so end up getting crest pro health. This slime stretches like elastic and its gross. I will no longer use crest toothpaste.

Wow. You are so much help. I just started pulling stringy pearly white things out of my mouth that felt gooey. I thought they were some sort of worm but they weren't moving. They aren't very long more like a little less than an inch. I have been using crest 3D whiting strips and things like that lately so I think that's what it is. Omg thank you for giving me relief

This started with me using Sensodyne actually. It must depend on each person's individual mouth and health at that time.

Its Overdue brushing. Your oral cavitys contain care for themselfs. Acidic prouducts are the only reason human beings brush there teeth. Do you smoke? Or any exessive form of a tablet duiplicate- paracetamol, mdma ecstasy

There’s no way it’s from any toothpaste with whitening agents. I’m 56 years old and before the “whitening” toothpaste was put on the market, I have had the white stringy stuff, and a very dry mouth. I’ve not had the “white tongue.”
I’ve constantly have to have a drink in my hands (non alcoholic) to keep my mouth moist. I’ve been trying to find out what this is for soooo many years (since my late 20’s), and still don’t have an answer.
I personally think it relates to an infection you may have in another part of your body, and aren’t aware of. I tend to get a cold or something once this stuff appears. I’ve always had a dry mouth, and bio-tene does not help it at all. Our mouths can lead to so many other things happening to our bodies, if good oral hygiene isn’t practiced daily. However; I brush and floss daily, and still get these nagging, stringy white things. When someone has a real answer please let me know. Thanks

Thank you to everyone who suggested switching toothpaste! Don't let the naysayers stop you from trying this. I switched from Crest sensitive toothpaste to Sensodyne Extreme Whitening about 9 months ago. Almost immediately I started getting the white stringy things but didn't make the connection. Recently I saw this post and responses, and saw the suggestion that it could be the toothpaste I'm using. I immediately switched to Sensodyne Pronamel Gentle Whitening and it hasn't happened since.

I go to the dentist regularly so I knew it wasn't a more serious condition. If you don't go regularly you should visit your dentist to make sure nothing more serious is going on. The good news is that for many of us it was just the toothpaste we were using!
