Sometimes I find that I have this weird stringy stuff in my mouth! It's really gross. You can't see it in my mouth, but I can feel it and when I slide my finger up against the area that it is, it comes out of my mouth and is really like this long stringy jelly thing. It's absolutely disgusting. Also - Every day my tongue is super super white... and I have to use a tongue cleaner to scrape it off. It's gross. I'm a really clean person and I take excellent care of my mouth. I was talking to someone else about this and they said it might be because I brush my teeth to much? I brush my teeth on average about 3 times a day, and I rinse with listener in the morning and evening. Does anyone else have the stringy white stuff in there mouth? Also, my mouth is super dry most of the time... Weird!

if you have white stringy stuff coming out of your mouth and a white tongue you have thrush....fungus....need an anti fungal mouth rinse or if it is systemic you will need an anti fungal such as diflucan and i recommend in the future not eating sugar or high fructose corn syrup as it promotes fungal growth and infection.

I have had this white stringy stuff in my mouth off and on for a long time. Sometimes my doctor gives me a med for yeast infection and that works. I have had dentists tell me to use Biotene and that doesn't work. I did find that gly-oxide works well. It is an antiseptic oral cleanser. Hope this helps.

The stringy stuff is not fungus, it's not Morgellon's. It's the top layer of skin in your mouth shedding away in response to a strong/harsh toothpaste. Whitening toothpastes, especially those containing hydrogen peroxide or baking soda, are the most likely to inspire this reaction. It's gooey, it's gross, but it's not indicative of any particular pathology. Now, the white tongue CAN be indicative of thrush (yeast), leukoplakia (which is normally harmless), or lichen planus, which should be observed because it can (not necessarily does) indicate an increased risk of oral cancer. The dry mouth is the issue I would be most concerned about--dry mouth lends itself to increased bacterial activity and damage to teeth. See a dentist!

That happens to me too, and for me, it's because I use whitening toothpaste. Not because of any type of infection. If you want it to go away, try switching to a less harsh toothpaste.

My 94 year old mother is experiencing the exact same thing. This has been going on for almost two months now. Her hands are at her mouth most of the time, trying to get rid of the strings. This really consumes much of her time. She went to her dentist and he pulled out a jelly-like string. That's when I saw these strings for the first time. My mother had been under a lot of pressure during the month of July with home improvement activities in her home, so I thought that this might be an immune system issue, knowing that the immune system can attack itself in many areas of the body when it goes awry. I have suggested that she see her doctor and perhaps get some blood tests. I'm sorry that I cannot be more helpful, but I did want to get this message to you. Also, perhaps by now (today is September 30, 2013), you may have some helpful advise for my mother. Ellyn

My mother also now has a white tongue. Since I typed the above post, I have been researching this health issue, and I strongly believe that my mother has a candida infection. The candida fungus is behind a very great many other health issues, as well. There are a number of other sites, but I wanted to get this information out to get people who have some of these health issues started with their research.

I have also experinced this for like 2 months now...I was so scared and thought it was something serious like cancer..I then realised that it is the toothpaste i had been using (Colgate) that was not responding well with my mouth. Use SENSODYNE...

It is the whitening toothpaste you are using. The same thing happened to me and I switched. As long as I use a toothpaste that does not have whitening, it does not happen.

Sorry I did not mean to click the thumbs down sign! I started expiriencing it 3 yrs ago when I started using Crest pro health toothpaste as recommended by my dentist because of gingivitis. I thought it was my mouth getting exfoliated or something, recently I started to question it- now after reading all the posts I am convinced it is indeed the Crest Pro health causing the stringy skin like stuff in the am.
