This only happens to me when I use Listerine Total Care mouthwash. I stop using it and no more issues. I use regular Listerine without any issues. They put something in the total care that caused it.

Well I have been using sensodyne for about 3 months now and as I reply to your post, I am doing a research on what could possibly be causing this disgusting white stringy stuff that has suddenly developed in my mouth over the last 2 weeks.I should say that I am quite relieved that it could change, now that I will try to change my toothpaste.

you are spot on with your answer here...I switched to a whitening toothpaste and that was when this started happening to me also.

It is like a piece of floss is stuck between teeth. I had deep root cleaning and this popped up. Is there any oral rinse I should be trying. I guess I have to return to the dentist, It is driving me crazy. What is going on? Can I do anything? Was this a problem from the deep cleaning?

You may have an oral yeast infection called Thrush. Look into that and see if the symptoms fit.

Were you using a whitening toothpaste? Other commenters believe that to be the culprit.

I was just researching this. I get this whenever I use crest toothpaste. It says that some toothpastes are too harsh for some. The white strings are saliva. It's just think saliva that happens when you don't have enough wetness in your mouth to thin the saliva out.

I too have been experiencing the same white gunk in my mouth for the last few months. It is nasty. Nothing in my oral care has changed, so why now? Unlike most of the other posts, I don’t use a whitening toothpaste, I use a prescription toothpaste called Sensodyne. So I’m wondering if there is a different common denominator. My diet has changed quite a bit and I’ve recently lost some weight (20lbs). My first thought was yeast. Thoughts?
