Hi my name is Tina, I am about to have tonsillectomy today, spoke to my Gp and he suggested me that I do not need any medication at all, as for my consultant he told me you will be fine with pain killers.
I am a bit scared of their suggestions. What did your doc say regarding medication.
Thank you so much
Hi, I just got my tonsils out 12 days ago.. I'm 18 years old. I did NOT like ice cream-it made my throat mucusy and It caused too much mucus and spit..Popsicles & Jello were my best friends for the first 4 days...Also, I liked KFC mashed potatoes with A LOT of gravy. I hope this helps:) My neck was swollen so have a nice ice pack for his neck that will lie nicely on and around the front of his neck. The scabs were the worst part...gross to spit out..more gross to swallow..if you have any more questions, let me know!
Just use your hydrocodone..That's what I had and it was enough..didn't sleep as much as I'd like to though!

i am a 13 year old teen and i just got my tonsils and adeniods taken out on february 11th 2013 and i aint going to lie it hurts and i feel terrible.... but as i have been reading these post i think alot of u people are really brave cause this is my second day having them out and i can barley eat ice cream or swallow. but yesterday on the day of the surgrey i forced a little bit os cie cream and warm temp. noodle soup. i guess one of the reasons why it hurt me so much is because this is my first time sugrey and where i am a teen..
i got my toncils out yesturday at 7:30 mine took about 2 hours because it was really bad and it hurted and u will need to eat popsicles, lemonices, and jelow but for me i couldent eat ice cream until the next day and u should not eat anything that is red because u could cough up red blood and u will not know if it is blood or jellow or popsicle but do not eat crispy things and sharp edges hopes it helps
I am 42 female, and had my tonsils out 2 days ago , so far i have eaten toast , eggs, bacon sandwiches, ready break , cornflakes, anything i normally eat as they told me this is the best thing to do , it all hurts like hell to eat , but i want to heal as quickly as i can , the worst is that my ear at one side is so painfully and i cannot hear anything with it , i'm still piling in the codine, but it is only my second day , so hopefully i won't be too bad soon ,
Hi. I'm 35 and just had my tonsillectomy done. I'm on day 7 and still feel very miserable. They told me to eat soft foods and frozen treats, but i couldn't eat any of that. All the sweetness from all that made me so sick and left a sweet sickening taste in the back of my throat. It was absoultly horrible. The only thing i found comforting was ice chunks and warm not hot cream of wheat. I also used a lot of ice packs. The worst pain is waking up, its best if you sleep sitting up and only for 20 mins at a time. I felt real good on day 3 and thought o this isnt too bad. I was wrong. There will be days like that and then you fall asleep and wake up and then it hits you all over again. DO NOT SLEEP!!!! only for a couple of mins, it drys you throat out too much. Keep your throat moist at all times!
try elevating your upper body and head a little more at night. when you lie down the blood flows through your head more causing your throat to hurt more at night.
try gadoraid it helps alot
can you have pudding? :-)
