august 2013  I was diagnosed of minimal ptb left lung, my dr.gave me 4 different drugs to take in for 6 months, after 6 months of medication my xray result was like this.. Fibroid opacities are seen with in the upper lobes.... IMPRESSION: mINIMAL ptb BILATERAL

WHAT THAS THIS MEAN?PLS HELP ME. THANK YOU IN ADVANCE

Hi Hopeful,

Fibroid means like fibers, scar tissue.  It is NORMAL for you to have scar tissue from having PTB in the past.

Now the bad news.  Before you only had "minimal PTB left lung."  Now you have it in the upper lobes - bilateral, the apices of BOTH lungs.  There is a VERY good chance that your PTB was NOT cleared and the infection is spreading.

You need further evaluation including a sputum analysis.

PTB can be VERY difficult to treat.  Make sure you follow your doctors orders exactly and take ALL of your medication.

Good luck.
