Where can I get mace or pepper spray for running with?

Also, which one is better (meaning more effective and preferably legal)?

Anyone have any opinions on this?
I like mint flavored ones the best.

Wal*Mart, Target or just about any drugstore will have it.

Couldn't tell you what works best.

For animals or people?

Personnally I think pepper spray for attackers provides a false sense of security. I have never seen people with pepper spray in a position to use it in a parking lot if attacked.

i tried asking for this stuff at penis's Sporting Goods and they looked at me like i had six heads.

i want it for weirdos i might run across on a trail someday -- sheeeeesh. i think i could have bought a gun easier in there that day.

I think pepper spray and mace are illegal in most states......I have to buy bear spray (legal in WI) easy to use....too easy.....I had to evacuate my house one day :(

You could also try a running specialty store. The one in which I worked carried pepper spray. From what I understand, Mace is illegal for civilians, but pepper spray is not.

Or ask your friendly mail carrier. They ALL carry it.

Maybe Joe can confirm this since another po-po told me, that mace is pretty ineffective on someone waay drunk.

pepper spray is the way to go. Since it is a foam it will knock the c**p out of people. It is legal in PA. Self defense only.
the remedy if and when you spray yourself is to wash you face with baby shampoo....
that is a trade secret though...that is what we rinse the bad guys eyes with when we get them back to the station and they are a bit more cooperative.
Any problems getting it, I can get some for any of you for cost plus shipping

Couldn't you just run around with a beaker full of acid?

Without spilling?! I'd be lucky if my shoes weren't eaten off by the end of the run!
So - do you think it is a good idea, or a bad idea? I've never had anything like that before, and I am aware of the risk of it being used on me.
I'm going to be doing more city running and I'll take more precautions in general, but I'm wondering if I should have something like that.

How about a bunson burner and you can carry it in some kind of holster...someone steps to you, and you burn their eyebrows off!!

That'll learn em!

Inquiring minds in Houston would like to know as well. There has to be a safe way for me to run outside. Should I hire a body guard or is pepper spray enough?

I carry pepper spray. Got it over the internet. It's small and easy to carry, but is only good for about 2 uses. I think it was only about $12.00.
