I've googled this several times over the past couple years- I was thrilled when I found responses only 4 days old! BUT, now that I see it's not answers, just more questions....I have to giggle.
I've had the issue for quite some time- 3 children and I breastfed....though, I have no clue if either of these things are what caused them.
If I remember to ask at my yearly exam, I'll post any answers

I have the same thing and I am 16. I have found a couple hairs with follicles that werent too hard to pull out, but most of them of very thin white feathery hairs.
It's kind of embarrassing even though no one is seeing my breasts. I've felt like no other girls have hair on their breasts. I just want to know what it is. :/

OMG Although I am so glad to hear that its not just me, Im saddened that there are no answers. I was wondering if it was because I had put on weight? I am not tiny have been overweight (by about 20 lbs) for about 10 years, and recently put on about another 20 :( But my son is 21 so I dont think its from having a baby or breastfeeding for me and Im not in my twenties, I am 38. I also have them on my breasts and my hips. I also found a few other sites where people posted that they are on their chest (breasts) and sides (I assume hips) I know that my hips have more stretch marks than my breasts, so they are in that area but on my chest I only have a few and these thread like things are not only in the stretch mark part. I have been married for 10 years but would rather DIE than tell my husband any of this. It started a few months ago for me and only noticed my hips recently. I was wondering if its hormonal But I honestly have NO CLUE. I use tweezers but like everyone else they just pull out, they dont need to be "plucked" they slide right out and are white and thick, fiber like I have dark brown hair and its thick as are my arm & leg hair etc But these are pure white and very different It is embarrassing, i find I am pulling out as many as I can daily but this takes up a lot of time and its kind of addicting But more cuz I want to get them all out! Please Please post if anyone has any answers or any clue at all what could cause this? Its awful

I'm only 14 and I have them, I have slightly large breast for my age (they're c's and still grow -_-) so I was wondering if it has to do with breast size... Mine are light grayish but I have almost black hair so that's probably why they're darker... I can pinch them between my nails and they pull right out with no pain, I really don't feel it but they're weird and I just want to get rid of them

I've noticed the same as you all. I have never been pregnant, 30ish, and african american. The fine hair is like a blondish color that 's white near the base. Hair doesnt grow on my legs; a little on my arms. I've probably shaved my legs three times in my whole life....just to see what the hype was all about.

I've noticed this for years: small clumps of white hairs, 3 or more, and sometimes they might have something resembling pus at the end. So here is my running theory: the hairs are older ones that just never fell out of the folicle, and so new ones grew up, and the cyle continues. Because women wear bras every day, the sweat clogs up these folicles, thus the pus like substance at the end. It makes sense to me anyway.

Hi all.
Well I can relate to most of you. I have done countless google searches to find out what the hell is going on and i finally stumbled on this.
So, my story..yes i breast fed my 2 girls, yes i'm slightly o/w (>5kg), yes i do not eat properly.
I have recently started taking the o/c pill 3 months ago. I have been on this pill since I was 20. I am now 32.
Last week i looked at my stomach, which is covered in stretch marks and i noticed little dark lines. I grabbed my tweezer and with NO resistance at all, these fibre like hairs came out. There were like 4+ in a bunch. I started looking all over my belly. I had over 20 that were exactly the same. It honestly freaked me out. I thought it was some hormonal change, through starting the pill again. Who knows. Reading a few of your posts i can agree with the stretch mark theory, the not eating properly theory..

Wow I'm glad to know I'm not the only one! i always wanted to know what they were too! I used to pluck them out almost everyday, i was addicted to it too. I just wanted them gone. But Now I'm just like forget it! but to me its still ery unattractive, and it makes me sooooooo self conscious. I dont lik wearing low ut shirts, or if I do I always need some tyoe of sweater to cover it up. I really wish I knew how to get rid of it!!!

Ugh! I hate those things! I am 21, slightly o/w too, yes I have stretch marks, nope, never been pregnant. I have hypothyroidism issues but i dont think that plays in effect to all this. I agree it probably has to do with the fact that we are always wearing bras and as for hips, well we always wear underwear too (well, most of us anyway ;) )

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trichorrhexis_invaginata I FOUND IT!!! I was going about the wrong way searching it. It doesn't say much about it. But at least we have the name. It's also referred to as bamboo hair.

I also noticed this recently on the under side of my breasts. I stopped breast-feeding 3 months ago, after going at it for over a year. I am taking a hormonal BC, so was wondering if it was that or just BF-related. It seems like a lot of women have this, from my extensive Google search... :) Now I can put my mind at ease. I'll just leave them alone because it is a slippery slope when being tempted to pull them out...
