I have been getting these for years.  Then one day I found one was swollen and sore.  It felt like a hard lump under it so I went to my doctor.  She made a small slit and pulled out a long, white fiberous looking thing.  I almost passed out!  But, she explained to me those little white hairs that pull out so easily and pain free are just fibers from my bra. They actually get trapped in the pores when you sweat because your boobs are really just big sweat glands that produce milk.  Some people are just more prone to get these.  Use a gentle exfoliator every day on them and you will find they appear less and be picky about the fabric that rubs against that soft skin.

I also found that dog groomers often complain about coming home and having to pluck out animal hairs off their breast.  It makes sense! It is soft skin!

That makes so much sense! Thanks so much! I notice when I wear one of my bras, I notice them more than with my others.

I am 32 years old, an have had these white, thread like hairs growing on my right breast, (the underside and outer rightside of it) for 10-15 yrs now.An interesting fact that is personal to me, but very interesting still. Is that when, I went through puberty, my right breast grew nearly twice as large as my left, (after a couple yrs of waiting for it to catch up to the right breast..without luck, dispite my Dr. Putting me on birth control pills, thinking that might trigger growth, i guess because the pill messes with your hormones, but yeah when that was still no help). I got a breast implant in my left breast.. So i find it interesting that the left implanted breast does not grow these hairs, but my right does. The hairs do not hurt at all, when i pull them out.i just looked it up randomly.because its been so long..and as i am getting older, i was worried if it was affecting my health.. Or if left not treated by a Dr. Does it trigger any health issues, or warn of any upcoming health risks? But, it appears not to, at this time at least.. It does scare me how many of us have been so worried, about it for so long now.. But, we don't ask a dr about it!!? Is it a fear of the unknown, a fear that a major issue is underlining?? Idk?.. I just think its weird, and kind of interesting too.. I also, can say..most of these thread like short hairs grow 1 out of each pore..and as I said, don't hurt at all to be pulled out by finger tip, or tweezers.. But, for maybe every 20+ i pull out 1 pore will have 2 of the thread hairs growing out of the same pore, a few even 3, after pulling out a hair sometimes another will be just starting and with tweezers can be pulled out painfree. Also i notice more when my breasts are cold, like post shower..

Yes, I have seen a few on my hips as well. I just pull them out, but I've had this issue for at least 6 years. 24 years old to date.

What kind of fabrics cause them? I've had these for like a couple years and I'm only 18. Does exfoliating make them go away? Because my breast feel poky and not soft or smooth and I makes me bet self conscious.

Same as all the others....been years and they don't hurt per-say but they do catch on my bra and feel poky (best description ever!!)

Never had children, breastfed etc. Am overweight but had this problem even when I wasn't.

I also have skin problems (a name to long to type here) and general allergies which I see is indicative of Netherton's Syndrome but after reading about it my situation doesn't seem as extreme as all that.

I will definitely ask my doctor next time.

Glad (or sad) to see I'm not alone :)

It's amazing how long this thread is and we're still not sure what this is! I'm 19, had them since puberty, I think. If someone comes up with a miracle cure, please do let us all know!

Well this is strange I don't think it's related to being pregnant or breast feeding though..because I am 14 and am wondering what they are:/

I Have had trouble for a while now, first these funny white hairs, on my face, on my arms on my legs, now on my stomach. at first they are quite fine long single hairs if you try to pull it out it has a shorter version that pops up and if you break the hair it will literaly fall on the skin and stick to it like its glued. it will either open as a sore round spot. or the part thats left in the hole will lay flat and attach to the skin. sometimes at the end of the hair is a white ball of something if it detaches, it will stick to skin and start the hairs all over again. i thought i was crazy.

I'm 19 and have never breastfed. I get these every now and again, but sometimes they are a bit thicker, which I read on someones response is normal. I thought there was something wrong with me, I'm glad that I'm not the only one.
