A few weeks ago I made a new PR of 7:05 on the mile. Today I got 7:13. I practice about everyday but leave a few days for breaks. Its been a week since my last mile run which was at 7:17. How is it that I a m getting slower? :?
What other type of running are you doing, (mileage, speedwork, etc?)

I have been running a little over 3 miles a day (basically a 5k). My record on the 5k is 26 minutes. After a days break from the 3 mile runs I tried to beat my mile record of 7:05. Instead I got 7:30. That might have been because I have been running so much. But when I got 7:13, it had been about a week since I had run.

I wouldn't worry about it. The conditions might have been ideal when you ran your PR and then not as good for the other runs. Some days you might get out there and not be able to run an 8 minute mile. Especially if you're relatively new to running, you'll probably find that your times aren't very consistant between workouts. Big factors include nutrition, weather, time off, and mentality. The important thing is that as you run more, your average times will go down. Stick with it and don't be afraid if you feel like you're in a slump.
