My doctor told me my pap smear came back slightly abnormal, basically a step below normal. I am 15 weeks pregnant so that makes me worry. The doctor told me they want to make colospy. It will show us for sure if these cellular changes are due to the pregnancy or maybe HPV. Did anyone use colospy for diagnosis of this kind?
Off course you are not alone. I have had a number of abnormal pap too, caused by HPV. Then I done colospy procedure and since then I have not had an abnormal pap. I’ve never hear of doing colospy so soon though. The doctors generally do more paps and then a biopsy of the area to see if the cells are true cancerous. Then if they confirm it, colospy is done. But I am not sure how serious that is because you are pregnant; certainly I would inquire with your doctor. Otherwise, without pregnancy my neighbor also had colospy. It seems like standard course of action for an abnormal pap test is to do a colospy to look closer to the cervix tissue. Sometimes abnormal pap can be caused by something as minor as severely irritated cervix. Until you get the colospy try to keep your worries to a minimum since most of us have been through this at least once or more during our life time.
