Well, my wife decided she will be in charge of my glucagen hypo pen. She said she doesn't want to be searching for it if I go into a hypo. I told her it doesn't make sense because if I go into a hypo when she is not present, I will be in a world of trouble. She said nobody would know what to do let alone know about the glucagen pen. I am wondering what I am suppose to do if I have a hypo at work or on the street. What does everyone else do about it? I usually keep it in my pocket so I think that a person would find this if I passed out on the street. What should I do?
I can understand what your wife is trying to do for you, but I agree with what you are saying. You really need to have your glucagon on you when you need it. Granted, medical personnel would have it on hand if called in to help you during a hypoglycemic episode, it would be important to give you an injection as soon as possible. If your wife has the glucagon, this wouldn’t do you any good at all. I am sure you can get an injection of glucagon for your wife to carry with her and you can carry one on your own person. That way, if your wife isn’t around during the time of your hypoglycemia, then you can give yourself a shot when needed. If you haven’t the ability to do so, your bracelet should explain about the need for glucagon so someone else may administer it for you. Discuss this idea over with your spouse and I am sure she would be agreeable to the suggestion. It would be the best alternative for you.
