Thank you for your post. I thought I was going crazy with this irrational, extremely irritable mood but now I see it appears to be a common side effect when stopping my meloxicam. Typically I think of myself as a very laid back person but yesterday I actually walked out of a bank because I felt I had to wait too long.... not cool. Unfortunately, I need Meloxicam periodically for my shoulder but perhaps next time I will try cutting the dose in half before going cold turkey.

I was on mobic for 3 weeks for ankle injury. After taking it I feel tired and in a fog. Can't concentrate. When does the feeling go away?

In my own two years of experience with Mobic (meloxicam), it seems to depend on how long you've been taking it continuously. I would venture to say that the awful withdrawal side effects can last as long as the period that you took it.

I have agree with the person who posted further above that there are just some times when I cannot find enough relief from aches and pains (impossible to sleep) from anything but Mobic (I have bouts of awful fibromyalgia-type "total body ache"), but I try to use Mobic for only one day. And it never fails to stop the pain and knock me out asleep for hours. But it is always followed in w/d by other unpleasant symptoms - acute depression, irritability, grogginess, even mild cold sweats.

But fortunately, just one "Mobic day" seems to put a temporary end to a "cycle" of my type of physical pain and resulting insomnia (which causes more pain). I just did so a couple of days ago. And yes, the next day...cold sweats, sluggishness, frustration with everything, sudden mood swings...but no physical pain!

I try as much as possible not to take Mobic two days in a row, because that seems to doom me to two more days of unpleasant withdrawal.

Take heart - the tired, foggy, (irritable, etc.) feelings do go away, but myself, I'd expect not for at least 3 weeks after the last Mobic if I had taken it for 3 weeks. This stuff is really wonderful news/horrible news.

When i took this regularly, if I missed even one dose, I could tell in the way I felt , sort of like I was getting sick, coming down with the flu... yes the doctor denied tht it is addictive.....but I know different. I went off of it, when I recently had to go on a steroid , but now off of that, had to go back on due to increasing pain. Its a damned if you do, damned if you dont situation.

I have dropped back to one 7.5 tab every other day, after taking Mobic for over 3 years daily, and have a lot of joint pain now. (rebound pain?) I have not had the shaky, fatigue, but am depressed with the pain and want an alternate anti inflammatory. I think you need to wean off this prescription slowly if possible. Going cold turkey sounds very scary! I exercise 5 days a week but I hurt more. I am afraid of not moving so. arthritis will take over. Don't start this medication to begin with!

you sound like me, been on meloxicam for about 3-4 years and just got off due to forgetting to get rx. Neck pain, irritabity, etc...you are not alone. I haven't told my Dr yet but will.

The same thing is happening to me right now. I guess it is withdrawl. I feel addicted.

I have been on Mobic for several years (can't remember when I started it) . Had to go off of it because it was affecting my kidneys. I hurt all over and my feet itch so bad. I have scratched my feet till they are sore. Didn't know if anyone else had this problem.

I have been on mobic for a year plus and need to be off of it for surgery. I have been incredibly soar hurting everywhere even more so than when I starmed taking it. I'm wondering if this has any negative long term side effects.

I'm investigating my recent weight gain too. I began meloxicam about two months ago.

I had a liver biopsy last week. I'm disabled and have several chronic illnesses. Been on meds for 17years. I've been extremely stressed with a failed surgery last October, a corrective one on March 16th, I have MS, other conditions and now awaiting results on my liver. Meloxicam really doesn't do much for me but less risky than extra strength Tylenol. I might have to live with the pain. Luckily, unlike most, I don't experience pain from MS. It's from a bad back and osteoarthritis.

I gained alot of weight too! Always felt bloated. I stopped taking it because my calves , ankles and feet continually swelled. Within a week, the weight was coming off.

Unfortunately, I just realized today that my 32 lb weight gain in 15 months is likely from my Mobic. My weight gain has not stopped. I started at 103 and am 134! I would stop sooner than later!
