Have any of you tried weaning off of this? I'm wondering if breaking the pills and takingcsmaller doses until your are off of it, would held lessen the withdrawal symptoms?

Hi everyone

I had been on a daily dose of 15mg Mobic for 2 1/2 years until 3 weeks ago when my doctor told me to stop taking it. She said just to stop immediately there is no need to gradually come off it as there are no withdrawal effects. Obviously the pain will return in areas it was used to treat but we will deal with that after tests
I'd been getting severe stomach pain and indigestion that was so bad that I couldn't sleep, sit, stand, I really did not know what to do with myself. Dr arranged emergency ultrasound and there were a number of fatty deposits on my liver. I haven't been able to get an appointment with my doc since the scan to find out what this means for me but from looking online I see that this can be caused by NSAIDS and other meds. It can also be caused by being overweight and I have gained 42 pounds since starting Mobic. After reading all these posts tonight I'm glad I'm of it. I am in alot more pain and the stiffness is dreadful but being 3+ stones overweight doesn't help either. Hopefully my weight will reduce in time now that I am off the Mobic.

I'm so sad reading your Mobic story, really feeling for you, as I've had awful experiences with it, too. (I was fool enough to try it two more times - years apart. Of course, it was always the same story.) Mobic is such a dangerous trap because it starts out immediately relieving the pain of inflammation and we think it's wonderful stuff, but it soon creates such awful consequences. My withdrawal was more in the nervous system - anxiety/depression, high blood pressure, and sudden aching again. But it did get rid of a horrible bout of sciatica down my left leg - but I had to pay for it with awful withdrawal (but general aching in place of the excruciating sciatica) - as you are unfortunately now having to do. I'm so sorry! I wish you all the best. I wish there was some medicine that would just cure the problem and then leave us unharmed, not leave us with yet other problems!

Read about taking Turmeric as an anti inflammatory

Yes, turmeric is a good alternative to reduce inflammation. I just have a couple of things to add that I've learned about taking turmeric to the best advantage: (1) Because the body doesn't absorb it easily, middle-grade turmeric formulas often contain piperine, a black pepper extract that causes the turmeric to remain in your system longer for hopefully greater absorption - by slowing down certain liver functions - sort of the opposite of detoxing! It will also cause pharmaceuticals to accumulate in your liver, (2) Possibly a better method to absorb more turmeric is to buy a more expensive micro-particle processed tumeric which also concentrates the effective ingredient curcumin; the micro-grind is claimed to make turmeric absorbed the best without tampering with the liver's processes (i.e., piperine). This super-fine turmeric is called "theracurmin" and is found in at least a couple of leading brands. (3) Adding turmeric to food supposedly does help some, but food grade turmeric (esp. non-organic) is of a lesser quality and purity than supplemental turmeric types. Taking equal large amounts of food turmeric and quality supplemental turmeric (at different times of course), I got a headache and stomachache from the food grade; I did not get either from the supplemental grade.

I was taking Mobic for chronic prostatis for the last 9 months. I also had about 6-7 pounds of immediate weight gain in the first two weeks of taking this drug, and noticed my body fat % dropping at the same time, suggesting that it was all water weight gain. I did see some reduction in my symptoms, but not enough that I was able to stop taking another drug (my doctor had hoped to switch me from one to the other). The doctor suggested I just take both and see if the condition improves over time. The Mobic really hasn't made enough of a difference, and I got tired of the extra weight, so I am no longer taking the drug as of 1/1/2017. I have lost 6 pounds since then - so, I can say two things, one the weight gain should level off, and two, it seems to drop off pretty much immediately when you stop taking it.

I took Meloxicam for 3 days and could hardly walk due to calf pain in left leg. Stopped taking it and called Dr. they acted like they didn't believe me. After foot pain increased started taking it again. After two doses bad calf pain. Stopped taking it, took about four days before leg stopped hurting. Foot pain less than calf pain. Will never take this drug again.

I took meloxicam 15 MG for my arthritis inflammation for two and half years. I recently decided to take myself off of it because I became worried about side effects
. I stopped taking it and felt pretty rough and could feel sharp pains in my joints that I hadn't felt while on the medication. I have also lost a few pounds and sometimes I feel a little tired. It now has been a month since I stopped taking meloxicam and I feel good some days but my joint pain has become more apparent where as I can feel where the pain is more intense in my right shoulder blade.

Am trying Tumeric. I feel validated at seeing these posts. I have quit cold turkey and feel like I was run over by a bus. After 3 weeks, I am getting better, but have pains I never had before.

I am experiencing the same pain as you describe after stopping meloxicam. How long did it take for you to feel better?

Thanks, jerry

I took Mobic 15 mg for 2 years for plantar fasciitis. my doctor switched me to Naproxen for my OA in my shoulder. My shoulder might feel a little better but now I have hip and knee pain that I have never felt and feeling generalized weakness. Is this normal? Or is it just a coincidence?
