I would suggest talking to your Dr. about weaning off them. Like ask about cutting the 15 mg in half and take 7.5.. then take the 7.5 every other day etc.. She what he ( or she) says.

I started Meloxicam, 15mg/day on December 5, 2014. By March of the following year, I began swelling in my left ankle. the swelling progressed getting worse and worse and extending up my left leg. The bottom of my foot become numb and I began tingling down my left arm into my hands and fingers. I have visited specialists and had many tests run to rule out Lupus, STDs, Diabetes, pinched nerves and so on. $1000's spent trying to figure this out. My last couple of lab results show that my one and only kidney has begun functioning at 55 which is low. I read that Meloxicam can cause problems with Kidneys and other organs. I have stopped the medication now for about two weeks. I am having some of the symptoms described including illness that feels like a stomach virus. the swelling is much better but still existent as well as a bit of tingling. Can anyone tell me if these symptoms will eventually and completely go away?

Let me clarify...

Can anyone tell me if the swelling and tingling will eventually go away? I have suffered with it now for over two years to the point that I am depressed.

I have been taking Meloxicam 7.5 - 15 mg daily for the past 3 years. I worried about long term use but doctors have said it's safe. Four days ago, I decided that enough is enough.. it doesn't deal with the minor pain I now have anyway. Yesterday was day 3 without the drug and it felt like I hit a brick wall emotionally. Everything was magnified... I was very irritable and emotional tired but unable to sleep well. Thank God I'm on my days off from work!!
Today I am experiencing slight fogginess, a little bit of intermittent sweating, and slight lethargy. The only thing to do is to ride it out... drink plenty of fluids... exercise (I worked out today) and watch comedies !!
This drug does drop you like a sack of onions after stopping it regardless of what the doctors say...

I too have always weighed around 106-112 but in the last 9 months I have gained over 30 lbs. going from a size 2 to 8/10! I am just now finding out what has been causing all this unexplained weight gain! It just hit me! The Meloxicam! So I searched the side effects and there it was! Thank you for your post. Lisa~

Unfortunately, the same has happened to me. Another reason to get surgery on my neck as soon as possibly and give up this drug. I do think recommend 15mg right away, vertigo and dizziness will bring about nausea. I went down to 7.5 and side effects are gone with the exception of weight gain. I'm hardly eating anything and, still am gaining weight. It's horrible!

I have been taking celebrex or mobic every day for15 yrs. I have arthritic symptoms but I dont have arthritis. When I stop taking it I have nerve pain that nothing will dull. I have to take acid reflux medicine when taking this med. I stopped cold turkey and dont have the acid reflux now but felt like I had the worst toothache imaginable. The dentist found nothing wrong so Im on pain meds for now. Hoping this is just withdrawal and will ease up soon.
