7. Find music festivals to attend
Summer time is great for outdoor festivals for music, comedy or dance. Find one in your city or a nearby city and take the time to get out there and enjoy the arts in fresh summer air.

8. Do a bike tour or riding fundraiser
Bike tours are usually a few days long. Training and preparing for this day may actually take months, but either way, it is great for your health and usually for a good cause as well.
9. Learn an exhilarating sport like surfing, sailing or ballooning
Be crazy this summer and take on an extreme sport! Try something you've never done before; go surfing, sailing or rafting. Don't forget about air/land sports like ballooning, bungee jumping and other wild, exhilarating sports you can do!
10. Fly a kite
Take an afternoon to go fly a kite. It may seem like a boring idea, but bring along a picnic basket and your family will have a grand time together. This is a simple, easy and affordable way to spend time together doing a healthy activity.
11. Hunting and fishing
Be sure to follow all safety precautions and regulations before you decide to take up hunting. Fish with the kids for sunfish and teach them about the value of catching food and about animal life.
12. Hiking
Trails nearby? Go for a hike and get in touch with your inner self! Take the family and pack a thermos of soup and some snacks to enjoy along the way. Get exercise and enjoy nature at the same time by going hiking.
13. Bird watching
There are hundreds of thousands of unique bird species. You might be surprised to find how interesting and beautiful birds can be. Check out a bird sanctuary on the outskirts of your city to see if you can spark an interest in bird watching.
14. Apple picking, berry picking and wagon rides
Head out to local farms to pick apples, cherries, or berries. This family-friendly outdoor activity teaches kids about the value of food and ground work of local farms. Then you can enjoy the healthy, organic fruits that you've labored over!
15. Mini-putting
Always a fun time, going mini-putting with family or friends is a great way to bond, and stay lightly active. This ignites a friendly competitive spirit and is also a great ice-breaker used by companies to bring employees closer together.
16. The driving range
Always wanted to golf? The driving range is fun, simple and is essential to learning proper golfing technique. There are many relaxed driving ranges which are lax on dress code and family friendly, where you can take the kids to learn a fantastic sport. Be sure to bring sunscreen with you!
