i'm 16 and a girl. my goal for next cross country season (early September) is a sub-20 5k. my PR is 24:17. i know it seems crazy but i think i can do it. to give you an idea of my fitness:
-I ran an average of 12 mpw over the summer last year, and 19 mpw during the season. during indoor track we ran about 12 mpw.
-I have been running for about 6 months.
-My grandparents and uncles on both sides of my family were excellent marathoners and ran the boston & nyc marathons.
-i definitley know that i have the determination and the passion. i know without a doubt that i can run 20:xx next season.
so my plan is to get my way slowly up to 40 mpw and hold that mileage for 2 months. do one hill session and one tempo run per week.
do you think that this is reasonable? any advice?
specifically, i am aiming for mid 19's.

10-20mpw is nothing. You'll see drastic improvements running 40mpw
