how fast of a heart rate does he have when his heart gets fast? if he has chest pains he should go to doctors. if the heart rate is over 100 bpm, it could be dangerous. he should go to the doctors anyways just to check on it

I think you all should google "artrial fibrillation" i am 19 years old and have been experiencing the same things. My doctor hooked me up to an ECG machine which showed I have AF. Make appointments with your doctors!!

I have started having crushing chest pains that can last up to 40 minutes.  I am 21 and it gets really bad when me and my girlfriend are kissing and turned on. She took me to the emergency room twice and nothing shows up. When I get this she says my lips turn blue.  I saw a cardiologist that did a bunch of tests but didn't show anything.  She says my heart beats irregular and pounds.  I about pass out.  I am wiped out afterwards.  This has happened going up steps too

i am 19 years old and i am having the same kind of problems that some of you guys are describing..it's very peculiar, because when i lay down on my back, my left-side of the chest hurts more then just laying side-way. Also i can hear pounding sound from my left chest.. Does anyone know what that is? Does anyone having the analogous problem?

It could be a syndrome called (WPW) Wollf-Parkinson -White Syndrom.  It causes the heart to race and can come with bad chest aches, shortness of breath, lethargic behavior, tiredness, Black outs, dizziness, etc.  My son is a division one football player and he has just recently been diagnosed with this.  Good news is that it is fixable with a heart ablason surgery.  They use a catheter and go in through your neck and leg. Google WPW and there will be many hits on it.  Good luck.

I have been having this same problem off and on for the last 5 years or so (I am 19!) and never knew what it was caused by. I believe I have found the answer!!!! The problem would always subside for short-long periods of time and than return randomly (or so I thought). During the past 3 months I have gotten fed up with all of my unswerable medical questions (acid reflux, chest pains, anxiety, depression, mood swings, and lethargy) and decided to take it upon myself to just say f**k IT and cure them all with a complete lifestyle change. It worked. I quit smoking weed, drinking alcohol/coffee, went on several diets, and began exercising, meditating, and doing yoga. I first started with the Raw foods diet which I found was too constrictive and switched to the Paleo diet (which basically just means no grains or processed foods) I knew that my acid reflux was caused by acidic food so I learned about PH levels and what to eat to keep them down. I beleive that the highly acidic and processed food+drugs/alcohol was what caused ALL OF MY PROBLEMS. So I now feel great with an unlimited level of energy, hugely increased memory and brain function, clear skin, and general all around solidity to my very being. My social anxiety is gone as well. yesterday I broke my good habits and drank coffee :(!!!! immediately my chest pain and acid reflux returned and it now a full day after the effect and im still feeling the extremely uncomfortable effects from it, which just proves to me that my theory was coorect and has strengthened my conviction in this new lifestyle that I believe will take me to heights in life that I never before imagined possible. I hope you can all change you il-fated ways as well. peace&love :)

I am 19 too!!!!!!!!!!! It seems incredible that there are so many 19 year olds experiencing chest pains. I play college basketball and like to think I am very fit. But today I had two exams at uni, and before the second, I felt calm but my heart was pounding rapidly (more than 100 bpm). I felt a sharp pain inside my left chest, which I think subsided, but the rapid heartbeats continued through the exam (which I was feeling very confident for) and then several hours afterwards, as I was lying in bed trying to relax my heart rate. I had good sleep recently, however haven't had a great deal of healthy sleep in recent weeks. And the sharp chest pains continued to come almost randomly. The chest pains continue to come when I lie down in bed, and continues when I sit up, it doesn't matter how I'm orientated in bed. I am fit, and having heart problems?
