Hey all. I just started running again to tone up my abs a bit. I have been running 3 miles a day (averaging 7:20 miles for now). I have ran for the past 6 days and have no desire to take a day off from running. My legs are barely sore. I have been stretching extensively at various times of day (whenever i get the chance to stretch i do).

My question to all of you is....Should i give myself a day off to give my legs time to heal, or because it doesn't bother my legs, just keep on running everyday, 3 miles a day to achieve what i want?

Thanx
I guess I'm not sure what you want, but a 22-min run is certainly a good way to keep some tone and repeating every day shouldn't be overly stressful and overnight recovery is definitely reasonable. If you'd like some advice on gaining endurance to run farther, there's plenty of know-how here, but if you're happy with 3-milers, you're doing just fine.
Welcome to the forums!! :D

first off, Welcome!

I just came off a streak of running 24 days out of 29 (longest streak was 12 days).

I was feelin pretty good on how my body was handling it all but after awhile I started noticing odd pains in odd areas (above the knee cap...toes...etc).

An instant Red flag for me so I stopped. If the 3 miles works for you, stick with it! But you may become bored with it and want to mix things up (speed work. long runs etc...)

OH! and there are about 1,000 positives and 0 negatives on taking a rest day.

I personally would say, take a rest day. Sooner or later, not taking a day off here or there will catch up with you, and your body won't be happy! Now, if you were training for the olympics, that's another thing. Just be smart and give yourself a break now and again.

Welcome to the boards, by the way!

Take a rest day once in a while though a nice streak is good. You are not overdoing it and the mileage is not to high so you should be okay.
