I've quit opiates before and relapsed recently... which lasted about a month. And now the withdrawl is way worse than before. I'm currently half way through my 3rd day off of opiates, and hating life. I was thinking about taking a suboxone just to get through work tonight.... should I or no? HELP PLEASE!
Ho honey! Do you take the opiates for pain or for your addiction? IF it is for addiction I usually tell people to start out with Methadon over Suboxone - BUT that is a personal call, I have found that more people become addicted to Suboxone! IF you can get an appointment with a doctor - to see if he/she can give you anti anxiety medication or anti depressents, these can help a LOT with the detox process! IT's a tough one detoxing by yourself, as it can have BIG health consequeences, so be careful OK? And just know it CAN be done, IF you feel like you are loosing control, then definitely go on Suboxone! BUT take the least amount you can OK? And do NOT replace the drugs with something else - booze, sex, cigs, gambling etc. Because this is very common! Take Melatonin at night - this helps with relaxation, drink warm milk - also helps with sleep and easing the twitches, Keep busy as possible - the more bored you are the worse the symtpoms - because it is on your mind all the time! Also find a group to go to for counselling OK? I'm usually on here and you can talk to me about it all OK? Good luck and sobriety honey!

This is dangerous getting advise from nonprofesionals, including me. But I do know for certain that This persons advise that methadone is not as addictive as suboxone is obviously not informed at all. Methadone is the most addictive and hardest to get off of any opiate, it is a synthetic opiate anyway. The rest of the advise is good but don't listen to that part at all. Man if you have enought sub's to ween of what ever you are thinking of taking then maybe go for that before you go back to the opiat you are trying to get off. so your on day 3 your almost there 2 more day's and you good, believe me its only in your head after that. It you take a sub, say 4 mg. you better know you will need 3 mg the next day 2 mg the next 1 then .5 , other wise if you take sub then stop your withdrawl will be way worse then if you hadn't. you cant just take it one day because then in 2 day's all of a sudden youll wake up and be back to were you started, day one of withdrawl and the scary thing about sub's is no one can pin point the duration of the withdrawl like with other opiate's, which is 3 to 5 day's, methedone an expcetion, 3 weeks. I hope that helped it probably didn't because I am in the same boat, trying to decide to take a sub and then ween myself of that then withdrawl from that, or just deal with the plan opiate withdrawl, its a tuff choice because no one has any answers on after you ween down how long the sub withdrawl last when you stop completly, depends on how much for how long and how fast you weened down, so many complications that it allmost seems more scary then regular withdrawl, no what I mean?

I Have been an adict and gone through withdrawls and from my fellow patients at the clinic, on here, and on line, there are growing numbers of people addicted to Suboxone! You have to remember that as addicts we easily replace one drug for another! And Suboxone is a newer drug - far newer than Methadone , and the doctors I have talked too and seeked help from state that Suboxone WILL eventually pass Methadone as the secondary addicted drug! It's like taking Herroine for herroine! and has NEVER made sense to me! It's just a different sensation! The reason why I got off of Methadone is because at the clinic I met a woman that had been on it for 4 years!!!!!! I was like "Isn't the point to get off everything?" So I stopped and had to go on other medications!

for you to say I am not informed is incorrect! I know a LOT about addiction and what works for SOME and what doesn't! This is a site for peoples personal journeys and it is upto that individual to either take the advice or try something different!

I've been kicking 60 mg OC habit for the second time. First time successfully clean for 6 months with the use of only one time one full 8mg sub 36 hrs into wd. I've been back on for a couple of months, same amount... I took last monday night at around 12am. I took 4 mg sub tuesday at around 4pm. Slight wd's have been coming back, i.e., diarrhea, runny nose etc. What I am asking since it kind of worked the first time for me is if I can not take any more sub, as I am scared of becoming addicted to sub, but obviously sub helps. Should I continue, or is my first 36 hrs of being "clean" undone because i took a half tab of sub... I DONT want to get addicted to sub.. Thanks in advance.

Hi honey! I am NOT a doctor - so I know you know that, I just wanted to reiterate it - As a recovering addict I too tried to get off as quickly as I could! And with my personal experience it was easier to do it slowly then as quick as I wanted! Since you did this before and you KNOW what works, then I would say "Go with what you know!" Obviously this low amount of Suboxone is NOT working for you - perhaps causing you to relapse (as it is taking it's tole) So do what you know that works and then watch it! As long as you know those kickers - those signals of addiction - and keep the Suboxone as LOW as possible then you will be fine!

My personal opinion is this. Addicts eithe want to get clean or don't, IF they don't BUT are forced - they will easily replace it with other drugs (such as suboxone or methadone)1 Addicts that TRULY want to get clean, can benefit a LOT from either drug! BUT can also start depending on them! So do what you did before - with the Suboxone - get some medical advice too OK? And see how you feel in the 1st 2 weeks! Cut your pills in half and watch it OK? Good luck and health honey!

I had surgery on my back but have been off of opana for 8 days until yesterday. Is it ok to take a suboxone after just 1 day (3 pills of opana?
