I HAVE JUST BEEN PRESCRIBED THE ABOVE TO BE TAKEN ONCE A WEEK FOR 12 WEEKS. IS THIS A VERY LARGE DOSE AND SHOULD I BE CONCERNED ABOUT IT? WOULD YOU SUGGEST THAT I SPEAK WITH MY DOC AGAIN BEFORE I START THE DOSAGE? I AM 61 YEARS OF AGE AND JUST HAD A VIT D BLOOD TEST DONE. THIS SCRIPT IS THE RESULT OF THIS AS I AM DEFICIENT.
I was put on 100,000 IU of vitamin A a day for one month, then 75,000 IU the second month, then 50,000 IU the third month. Yes, it's a lot and there's a risk involved, but I don't think either of our doctors would have recommended this dosage if it weren't safe for our bodies.

If you're concerned about it, by all means talk to your doctor first. Tell him your concerns and ask about the risks involved.

Just to let you know, I once misread the label on a new bottle of vitamin A. I thought it said 10,000 IU a pill. Instead, it was 25,000 IU a pill. I overdosed by about 205,000 IU that day. I suffered no damage, but I did have some overdose effects. I strongly suggest that you double check labels!
