Hello. Is it normal to have stroing cramping 6 hours after an abortion(d&C done at 7 weeks), but NO bleeding at all? I left my Docs office, came home and had minimal blood on my pad. I changed it, and since then (roughly 6 hours) there has been NO blood...Just cramps. Did my cervix close prematurely., making my uterus fill up with blood, but being unable to let it out?????I do not want to bug the doc for this yet.
Hi,
Cramping is normal and can last up to a few days. it is really too early for signs of infection. Usually they'll prescribe, or tell you, that you can take acetaminophen or ibuprofen for the cramps.
If they are very severe cramps or you see bright red blood then call your doctor immediately or go to the ER.
Hope that helps. Keep us posted as to how you're feeling.
Good luck.

Thanks for your reply. From what i was told, bright red blood is normal, so long asd I am not soaking 3 pads an hour...meaning it shouldn't be severe bleeding. The problem is I am not bleeding at all. I know the procedure was complete, because at my request I was able to see the pregnancy tissue(fetus) with my doctor.I needed to do this for closure, and so that I could say a prayer. I had to have this done for medical reasons, not because I didn't feel like having a child. I hope to try again soon. I am going to page my Doc in the morning, but just wnated to know others experience. My cramping is relived with Motrin,a dn i ahve been placed on an anti-biotic. I am not concerned about infection, I am more concerned that my cervix has closed, trapping the blood inside my uterus. I am not sure if this is normal, or not. I do not know if this could cause any problems for future pregnancies. I was lucky to ahve my first daughter who will be 4 in a few days, and I want desperately to give her a sibling. I also wondered if it may be okay to use a heating pad on my abdomen, in hopes of "lossening" up my musclkes to enable blood flow. I may have overdone myself today, as I came home and played wiht mydaughter, made dinner, and everything else as normal..Anything to keep my mind off what has happened. 3 days ago, I was picking baby names out with my husband, and deciding nursery colors and themes..This all happened so ffast, and I am just a little scared I guess. i ahve never had this type of procedure done.
