Hi all. I’m interested in what may increase your risk of a problem from swollen glands or lumps under the skin? Are there some conditions or medications that can contribute??? I was an alcoholic but I’m ok now and don’t drink anymore… Can alcohol be one of the causes???
Many conditions, lifestyle choices, medications, and diseases interfere with your ability to heal or fight infection. As glands swell when your body fights infections, it is obvious that these conditions certainly affect glands swelling too. You are at increased risk if you have a personal or family history of cancer, alcohol or drug abuse, smoking, had a chemotherapy… etc. As you see, alcohol is one of those “conditions”. But, the good news is that your liver will eventually recover, so risk will be slowly decreasing – just be sure not to drink anymore.
