Do any of you take allergy meds before you run (1 hr. or so)?

I am leary of doing so. Can you help me with this.

Thanks.
Yes. I have done this numerous times on the advice of a doctor. I used to get horrible itching/redness on my trunk and legs. My doc said it was an allergic reaction and to take benedryl. I built up a tolerance to the drowsy aspect, and it completely cut out that horrible itching. Soon, my body adjusted and I didn't have to take it any more.
I have also taken claritan/zyrtec for airborn allergies before a run. If you have any concerns, I would talk to your doc first. But, it worked well for me.

I snorf on my Advair disk every morning as soon as I stagger out of bed.

id be kind of leary about it. allergy meds, decongestants in particular, make my blood pressure go up significantly. not sure what kind of repercussions that might have, but im not sure i want to find out.

when i was taking them all the time, i usually took them first thing in the am and then again around dinner time or shortly after.

Funny, allergy meds have the opposite effect on me--if I'm not careful, my blood pressure will bottom out.
*I would definitely talk to a doc about it. I did, and it worked for me. Your doc knows you best and might have different advice for you.

Yes. I have had allergy attacks during races as well going past people mowing their lawn. Like I'm not having enough trouble breathing.

Claritin D baby, with a little coke chaser...<just kidding> seriously, the Claritin helped me immensly in the spring and early summer. I'd stay away from the sineaid or sudafed the ones that warn you about drowseyness or rapid heartbeat side effects, nasty those!
