My sister, who is a doctor, said that pain and heat is experienced by the body along the same pathways, so by putting heat on the affected area minimises the pain. Hot water bottle or hot bath has temporarily eased my GB pain

I have attacks and when I say attack I mean it is really bad the top part of my stomach tightens and it feels like it's on fire and it doesn't matter how I lay how I stand how I do anything it is very painful I usually have to throw up everything that I ate and I swear five minutes later the pain is gone but these attacks last for as long as 35 minutes and at times I feel as if I'm going to die so throwing up is what cures me weird but it works

For quick relief 1 teaspoon epsom salt, 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar in 8 oz apple juice or 8 oz water followed by 8 oz water will help within 15 minutes.

Yes, mine has lasted for a few days. Scary amount of pressure in my right chest which migrates hourly. It's lasted long enough to be less scary and more annoying. I am off to see the doc tomorrow for the first time though. Not even sure it IS gallbladder related, but it seems to fit the profile everyone is describing.

As soon as I feel the pain coming on I take 1 percocet and get an ice pack to lay on. it takes about 15 minutes for the Percocet to kick-in and The pain stops almost instantly. Usually the pain will start with a light back-ache that won't go away, I then know the attack is coming. Learn what your oncoming pain is before the attack so you can get to it as soon as possible.

hey, just thought i'd share what helps me, of course heat on ribs and upper back, fresh air, any sort of chest expansion exercises ie. push up, pull up etc... curling up in the fetal position, and what works best is drugs.
but mainly the things that make it worse, smoking, trying to lay on my back, and any sort of sugar intake
best luck

What I have found is if I take responsibility for my diet, dandelion coffee, honey instead of processed sugar, no alcohol, no milk, soy a little, lots of water, relaxing, as anxiety can cause, IMO, the gall bladder to cramp, which is one of the causes of pain, the other are the stones blocking the duct, which apparently is much more intense. Anyway, when I am looking after myself, my whole system gets improved, including gallbladder, which incidentally I have a 2cm stone, and a whole bunch of smaller one's, and am yet to reach a point where I ring an ambulance, to force them to move me up on some waiting list. Id prefer to experiment with lifestyle changes. Ive been drinking to much lovely wine, smoking, and some recreational drugs, and have had attack after attack, and today in fact I bought dandelion root, honey, broccoli, and just doing this, and making a firm decision of, IF I WANT THE PAIN and the misery, then keep up what Ive been doing. Ive had enough, so Im taking responsibility. The pain is still there, but somewhat lessened, and probably due to less anxiety. Hopefully things improve. As far as pain goes, even though aspirin can be harsh on the stomach, it has anti inflammatory aspects, and isn't metabolised by the liver, which would be a no no, for many with gall stones and issues related. Sorry for being so long winded

Found this forum helpful. Just wanted to share what I believe is helping me. Due to a back injury, I started sleeping sideways ie on my right side (gall bladder on the bed) for long durations. I believe this led to my gallstone issue. I came across an article that advised sleeping sideways but on the left side (ie gallbladder not on the bed side)....seems to be helping me. Early days...but just wanted to advise if you could try changing your sleeping position.

Slippery Elm powder helped heal & sooth my ulcer. I also find a decent probiotic helps. I have read a lot of literature suggesting that gallbladder issues don't always show up in ultrasounds too.

Thank you. Worse night ever. I read your suggestion and it helped. I no longer have insurance so this suggestion meant a lot. It is impossible to pay high insurance premium after being laid off and cannot get help. Again thank you.

I had back surgery also and always sleep on my right side. The attack was so severe we almost called ambulance. I layed down on my left side with heating pad low over my gallbladder and pain eased. Also took back surgery med. I fell asleep but still woke up feeling like I had to vomit but didn't. Pain stopped. Thanking God and everyone's advice. Thank you.
