In the first interview of such kind, I have talked to one of the SteadyHealth.com moderators Bbfeet9.
Thank you Bbfeet9 for taking your time to do this interview. Good to have you on board :)
Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a 51 year old mom and grama. I live in Holley, NY with my husband and 19 year old daughter. I am the proud owner of 2 labs, 2 cats, a gecko, a bearded dragon and a creepy lizard named Sherlock. We just bought a barn from the late 1800's which we are restoring. We plan on living there withing the next few months. I work at home for my husbands business and take care of my 8 month old grandson, Christian.
I love to cook all kinds of weird, yet delicious foods. I use the family as ginea pigs when it comes to taste testing. They never insult me, they just tell me that they would never order it in a restaurant. I know what that means.
You've been present on the board for around 4 months and you have already became a moderator? How does that feel?
Being invited to become a moderator for SteadyHealth after only 4 months is a pleasure. This tells me that my replies to posts are being noticed and put to good use. I must be doing something right! Being still kind of new around here, I sometimes have a hard time trying to navigate around the moderators end of it, but i make due. So far so good.
How do you see this role of yours (as a moderator)?
I see my role as a moderator to be one of help and guidance. I can sincerely contest to the fact that i don't know everything, nor do i try to come across that I do. I take a lot of my own life experiences and use them to answer many of these questions. I come across so many situations here that i can strongly relate to, because i have been there. I can almost relive the whole thing, again. I can give honest and open replies, sometimes wishing that someone could have given me this guidance and support when i may have needed it the most.
What do you enjoy about the forum the most?
I think what i enjoy about his forum the most is knowing that help for many people with real and genuine concerns, is just on the other end of a computer. I get a few laughs, i get a few disagreeances, but most of all, i get "thank you's". Not every one is going to agree all the time, and there are folks that don't come back after you feel that you have helped, but it's okay, maybe just that one reply was all they needed.
What do you think about your colleagues – the other moderators? Have you made any contact with the others who are as busy as you are on the forum?
As far as the other moderators here, i think they are all wonderful people who are all doing the same job, helping and guiding. That's what it's all about, right? Putting in just a little bit of their time to help someone, even if they just make them smile.
I have made contact with a fellow moderator, Kirk. He is a real nice person who responds to my sometimes "confusing" questions. When i feel really spun in the opposite direction over someone's post, he sort of reels me back a little, it's nice to compare notes with him...thanks Kirk
Where do you spend your time the most?
I find i spend a lot of my time with the teens who visit here. I also enjoy giving some parental advice. I also visit sexual and relationship issues. Unfortunately, i do have a lot of sad experiences with the addiction topics. My 27 year old daughter is an addict. If i can help just 1 person with that, i would be happy. I just wish i could help her.
Is there anything you don't like about the forum, something that makes you angry or something you would change or add?
There is really nothing that I don't dislike about this forum, exept for maybe the few "odd" posts that come in on occasion. But that's not even really a dislike so to speak, it's one of those scratch your head moments, then you start looking for the trash can!! As far as changing anything goes, i haven't really gotten myself into a situation (yet) where i would try to change the direction of it. I am still "green" around here. If i am not sure of how to approach something, i ask. That's where Kirk comes in.
What moves you to come to SteadyHealth every day?
There is always something new here, everyday. I make it a point to sit down each day and try to do my best to enlighten someone, to offer a shoulder, to just help someone straighten something out. Who knows, i could be helping someone change their life, for the good.
Is moderation on SteadyHealth a tough job?
This is not a tough job by any means. I already have the experience, my references are good, and i don't have to drive all the gas out of my car! The only pay check is knowing that i have maybe made someones life a little brighter. That makes me rich!
Do you have a message for our members and other moderators as well as our supporters?
As far as messages go, the only message that i have is to keep up the good work! We are all working together to make this site a complete success story. I can only thank all of you for allowing me to come aboard, and please, let me know if i am not pulling my weight, or maybe someone thinks that i can change something about my approach.
It's a pleasure to come here everyday to be a part of all of you. Thanks....
