Hi,
I just recently found out that my ankle bones are fused or that they grew out like that naturally. It prevents me from fully moving my ankle so the only option is surgery, but I have been tested fully while at hospital and it seems I also have Ehlers Danlos syndrome. From what I’ve managed to figure out from doctors it can have so many effects on my body and it can prevent wound healing and as far as they are concerned, the surgery could be dangerous.
I know this is a rare condition, but has anyone experienced ankle or any bone fusing naturally because of EDS? Any info right now is helpful, I’m just beginning to understandand what consequences will all this have on my body and life.
Thanks,
Hello, Guest. I am sorry to hear that you have this problem. It could be that EDS is responsible for your ankle bones fusing. You should be able to undergo surgery as many EDS patients have had surgery for corrections in their bodies for other things that EDS causes. There shouldn't be any issues with your wound healing. I believe you should be able to have the surgery and be able to get mobility back into your ankle. Has anyone else know anyone with EDS? Are there any health care professionals that have cared for EDS patients and know about the wound healing from surgery on them?
