A few weeks ago I had bv, and was treated for it with that nasty tasting medicine, so me and my fiance discontinued sex while I was on it. To this day I still don't know how I got it..I never had anything smelly or weir discharge or nothing like that, that is until after I got treated for it! As soon as I got off, I start using the bathroom a lot again, and the left side of my vulva and left labia was irritated, and then I thought I experienced a yeast infection. I've never had a weird discharge b4 until that medicine. A lump appeard on my groin which I've had b4 3 years ago even when I wasn't sexually active. My fiance and I r clean, so no I do not have multiple sex partners. I heard u can get them from baths and stuff too. Anyway, during this problem, the itching and burning left, but the frequent urination stayed. come to find out, the medicine didn't get all of the bacteria out. So instead my college nurse has put me on a cream instead of the pills because of how sick they made me. She said that I had protein in my urine because of the bv. Has anyone ever had this bv b4? Looks like this is something I might have to live with, because this didn't start happening until my fiance & I started having sex. and if we don't use a condom, he does the withdrawal method. I was recommended rephresh. I just want to know ur stories & what u do for it. And when will this swelling in my groin area go down? I know it came because of the shaving and the bv. I can't remember when it went down last time. The college nurse told me that it could've came back because of the baths that I take, and that it is healthier to take showers instead of baths, and told me what to do when I do take baths
hello nicegyrl, just wanted to respond to your post. i have been diagnosed w/ bv, yi and UTI's for all of my life. i am 41 and married for 4 years. i get the "sores" and smelly odor ALOT. my ob said that it was bv or yi and i have gotten all of the creams/pills that you can take. i have the pelvic pain so much that i have already had an complete hysterectomy. i have been told that maybe i had these symptoms due to baths, bath soad, laundry soap, etc. recently, i had the smelly odor, pain and discharge and now my doctor ask me if i have ever been exposed to herpes. needless to say, i was floored. i am married to a pastor and am born again and monogomous to say the least. i THOUGHT i was clean, as i have an STD blood work done with my annuals. The bottom line is that my ob missed all of the signs of herpes and kept diagnosing me as bv and yi. i went for my post operative appt and the specialist/surgeon was the person that actually suspected herpes, as i was in the middle of an outbreak and just chalked it up as bv or yi. i had an appt scheduled w my ob for the same week and i anticipated being given a prescription as usual. when i went for my ob appt, she had already rec'd the notes from the specialist and then, she for the first time, mentioned herpes. i argued that i had been coming to her for almost 15 years with vaginal lesions, smelly odor and pain and was being misdiagnosed. I was furious, bc she was trying to convince me that this was diff. i have been looking at my vagina for the past 15 years in the mirror each time i had these lesions to watch for healing and just out of curiosity. i do not know what to do. i feel nasty and ashamed as my pentocostal parent always talke to me about the "nasty girl disease". The specialist told me that by the severity he could tell that this was not a new problem because of the severity of the lesions. my only saving grace with telling my husband about this was the fact that he has known that i have been going to the ob for years for the same problem every three months for the entire time of our relationship. but that does not make it any easier for any of us. i want to talk about it, he does not. i guess i am telling you all of this to inform you that herpes can be misdiagnosed as bv, yi and UTI's. if you have a history of any of these, PLEASE get tested and have a culture done and the blood test also. herpes masks itself with same symptoms as these other popular female disorders. my husband does not want me to sue my ob for malpractice due to misdiagnosis because of the possible publicity that may arise out of the law suit. but i dont want them to get away scott free for misdiagnosis me for over 15 years. at my post op appt i was told that i could have contracted this 10 to 20 years ago, you just dont know. so i dont know who i got it from or when. 10 to 20 years ago is a long time ago and many men ago. i am in now suggesting that you are "not clean", i am merely sharing my experience so that you dont go through the same thing that i went through. i was "clean" also, or so i thought. at any rate, i hope that you are and will pray for you and your health situation, as i am doing the same thing for myself. good luck and god bless.
