I've had a bitter taste in my mouth for about a week -- worse when I eat or drink something. Sure enough, I ate pine nuts several times last week. It's never happened before but sounds like now I know what it is!
I also ate pine nuts and have had an awful bitter taste. i thought i had jaundice or diabetes. thanks anyway no worries now. sugary foods have a worse bitter taste, anyone find that?. . . might just be relative
omg I would be the first to discount something like this as being the cause of this bitter taste on my lips as I eat and for sometime later, but I did eat pine nuts, for the first time, last night. Any food I eat tastes like someone has sprayed fly spray on it - YUK. A good solution to excessive eating me thinks?!
WoW! Thanks to all who have posted. Last Saturday I tried Pine Nuts for the very first time. Monday, mid-day, I started getting a bitter after-taste and begun to really worry. It is the worst after-taste and NOTHING helps it. Glad to hear it will be alright :-)
Wow! This is insane. All we could do is laugh when we heard that other people were experiencing the bitter taste and eating pine nuts. Yes, I said we meaning three of us- my mother, me, and my mom's best friend. The question I still have is "why was it just us? " Our WHOLE family eats pine nuts. The three of us do have O blood type. Mabye this has something to do with our sensitivity. I also would be interested to know what BRAND of Pine Nuts you have been eating- ours is AMPORT FOODS. Please check your brands this could be cause for FDA investigation.
amazing. found this website trying to identify a bitter taste on my wife's tongue for about a week. guess what! she ate a qtr pound of pine nuts over the past week.
Wow, imagine that. Same problem, and I ate pine nuts last week. The bitter taste lasts for hours no matter what I eat or drink.
I to have eaten pine nuts. a product of China, packed by American Importing, Co. Inc. The name on the bag is AMPORT FOODS. I wonder if it has anything to do with them being produced in CHINA? Never happened before when I ate pine nuts.
I have not eaten any pine nuts, but I have been experiencing a burning/bitter taste sensation from my stomach to the middle of my tongue off and on for about two or three weeks. What could this be ?
Wow Thank you a lot, I've eaten 'cedar' nuts about a week ago, I know what caused this problem now. I like bitter tastes in general, but not this one...
Oh my goodness, me too!!! I just ate a salad with pinoli nuts on Friday(pine nuts, right?) and I've had this horrible bitter taste in my mouth when I eat since then!!! Well I feel better now, knowing that it's not the start of some disease!!

Cant believe it, Iv just got back from the dentist. Thought i had a bad tooth. But now reading this i realise what the bitter/ sour taste is at the back of my mouth. I had a bag of mixed toasted seeds an nuts (billingtons) they were so nice i eat the whole bag. Reading the packet, i have left in cuboard, They have pine nuts in them!!!!!! That was last Wed. Friday night the taste was horrible. I nearly complained to my local chippy. But my partner said his food tasted ok.
I found bread was the worst thing too eat. I have been sucking mints. It helped a bit, as i wasnt chewing.
Iv now had it for 4days. Hope it goes soon.

This is just hilarious. I had dental work a few days ago, and then I experienced the same as everyone else, an awful bitter taste everytime I eat or drink. I was worried about the dental work, that I have awful breath, that there may be something medically wrong with me... thank goodness for google and this thread.. I ate a bunch of pinenuts a few days ago, and made pesto last night...
Oh god! Such a relief.

Had the exact same problem. Being a doctor (and hence a bit of an hypochondriac) I started to think I was diabetic, was gonne get my glucose checked tomorrow morning. But in fact, I had some pine nuts a couple of days ago.

Go figure....

Thanks!
