My 17 year old son has these black balls in his stool. They look like blueberries and have a dark gelatinous center. They also have a plastic-like casing. We sent a photo to his gastroenterologist who said it they look like foreign objects he is digesting but that isn't the case. His regular doctor sent them to the lab but the lab wouldn't analyze them. I saw a post on here from someone with the exact same issue. I hope someone can give us some answers. Thank you.

That's definitely weird about the black balls in your son's stool. If his doctor thinks they're foreign objects but you're sure they're not.

There might be a few causes like some foods don't digest well and might look weird, but the plastic-like casing is unusual.

Even more it could be something from meds or supplements he's taking. Some gut problems can make stool look strange, but not usually like this.
If the lab didn't check them out, maybe see another specialist or get a second opinion.
