Due to the fact that you were in the clear, i think it is a good idea for him to get checked for STI's and of course you too - due to you having unprotected sex! It could be as simple as a severe urinary tract infection, BUT I think he needs to have both tests done - Urine culture, and the full STI! You HAVE to have him wear a condom ANYONE! The rate of Herpes is SO huge right now! Within 10 years - if the trend contnues - 1/2 the population of America WILL have genital herpes!!! It's crazy NOT to protect yourself!
